True. And Veidt is implied to be gay, right? That doesn’t stop him from having kids but it does make it more unlikely.

IMO Veidt is a red herring in the paternity question. There’s no hint of him having offspring in the original, and LT would have absolutely been alive by then.

Okay expecting trapdoors is maybe a bit extreme , but when villainy people point a remote at you , you get off and away from the lazy chair

I assume Veidt is Trieu’s father and not just her mentor/role model. Not that that really answers the “where does he fit into the solution” question. There’s a word that starts with D after his SAVE ME message. SAVE ME DAUGHTER perhaps?

To be fair, I’m not sure he has. He does recover his new squid alarm after trying to throw it away, and beforehand he asks Angela if anything is real. So he’s clearly even more fucked up and confused than he was previously.

I was in the same camp. Skeptical about a Watchmen series, disillusioned with HBO, low opinion of Lindelof after Prometheus and Into Darkness.

You’re right. You’re right. That kind of nobility cannot exist in this world.

Like many snobby geeks (which may be redundant) and basically anyone familiar with Lindelof I bypassed this, but...

And it wouldn’t surprise me if that very point was brought up in the writers’ room. Lindelof’s spoken pretty highly of the group he assembled.

Now playing

I really like how they turn things around in this show.

The Minutemen disbanded before HUAC, I believe. The individual heroes still operated, but had to unmask once the HUAC hearings started.

yeah but hasn’t the show been running for awhile?

Like many snobby geeks (which may be redundant) and basically anyone familiar with Lindelof I bypassed this, but out of curiousity I’ve been reading the recaps here—-especially when they mention something from the orignal series—-and I have to admit it sounds fairly interesting.

So, let me get this straight... the guy who knows how to use special flashing light to mesmerize people may have the rights to the most watched TV show in universe, and is teamed up with the trillionaire who is sending fancy new HDTV’s to folks?  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out...

The reference I found for Nite Owl killing HJ was from one of the Before Watchmen comics. I’m not proud of that.

Looks like Hollis killing HJ comes from Before Watchmen. (I feel dirty for using BW as a reference) The Comedian killed Rolf, and Nite Owl killed HJ. Obviously the show doesn’t have Nite Owl kill HJ, but the popular in-world story is that HJ faked his own death. Again, maybe with the help of Nite Owl.

In the comic book when Capt. Metropolis attempts to create the Crimebusters he shows off a poster with the Crimebusters focuses. The Comedian burns the poster. On the poster is “Black Unrest.” Remember in this episode Metropolis says to HJ:Youre gonna have to solve black unrest all on your own.

I like the idea that Metropolis tried to make amends... but if Will has, essentially, a mind control device - it’s plausible he influenced Metropolis to write it over? Really unnerving thing about mind-control once it’s out of the bag - you never know what’s fact any more :O

I thought Hooded Justice left the Minutemen because he didn’t want to unmask for HUAC.

Is anti-Snyderism the same thing as decent taste?
