The convertible option is actually kinda smart. Differentiate by just refusing to directly compete with the BR-Z. The only issue is you’re taking a 2+2 coupe and chopping a roof off.... Mazda is right there with a purpose built machine that I assume is way better.

Gonna add a lot of weight to a car who’s real stand out feature is a low curb weight and the handling that provides.

Having driven both I can tell you dynamically they feel different. However if you’re sitting in a Supra, it definitely feels like you’re inside a BMW.

Now THAT was informative, and helpful.

Ah yes...that infamous vulnerability of elected representatives to the lawn signs of people who can’t vote against them.

Ah, yes, thank you for jumping to conclusions about how I have my mind up.”

Since the inception of gasoline, we have figured out how to provide light without kerosene and heat our homes without oil. Aircraft are still a work in progress, though.

As far as I can see, everyone in America can afford a $50K+ truck, so what’s the problem with a $50K EV? Just spread the payments out forever like you do now. /s

“IF” he gets recalled. There I fixed that for you.

With the exception of Fiat Chrysler, remind me again which auto manufacturers have more EVs, PHEVs, and hybrids on the road than any other auto manufacturer in the world? GM has sold so many EVs that you can’t even get a tax credit for them anymore. The only other manufacturer that’s sold as many is Tesla. You

I used to live right by that gas station in the lead image. It’s located right near Union Station in the Chinatown part of Los Angeles. It’s infamous in LA for always having prices that are around 50-75% higher than other stations in the area. Locals believe it’s a front for a money laundering operation.

As the US is moving at a rate that may be considered plodding, remember that we alone are not the planet, and others need to be pushed that direction as well.

The biggest catalyst of change for the automakers will be the prospects of losing money. That’s their only motivation, and once that’s threatened, only then will they be “motivated” to change.

Agree 100%. We’re not at the point yet where EVs should be taxed more, when you’re giving them a tax break as well.

of course, some of the heaviest vehicles for a given tire size are going to be EV’s

Absolutely agreed. Infrastructure improvement has bipartisan support, but no one wants to run for office on a platform that involves raising gas prices (especially since people already erroneously blame gas price increases on the president for some reason). I would be more than happy to have an increase in gas prices

Why make this so complex?

Until EV marketshare becomes significant enough to really dent gas tax revenue, this seems a solution in search of a problem. Right now, the biggest problem with the gas tax is that it’s been the same since the early 1990s. Yes, EVs get a free ride, but we are already giving people up to $7,500 cash to buy an EV. If

I don’t know that picking on teenagers who simply want an inhabitable planet makes him a good writer.

Admittedly, TG was also better when we thought Clarkson was just playing the part of a douchewaffle for the show. When it turned out that he actually *is* a raging asshole who treats people like shit, it got a little less funny.
