I had a baby last Sunday! It was a pretty good birth. From contractions starting to when she popped her little head out, it was only total 12 hours. So, pretty fast! Nurses said no time for epidural once I got to the hospital (I was 9.5 cm dilated) so that was fun.

Sadly, my rural community hospital doesn’t have a NICU, so my baby would have to be flown to a better equipped hospital anyway.

I’m 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant right now, and there is nothing that sounds more attractive than giving birth in the comfort of my own home. There are no midwives in my county that will do it, so I’m stuck going to the hospital. However, I’m going to labor at home for as looooong as possible.

I don’t know how it works with ivy leagues, but I was recruited to row at a Division 1 school. The coaches come to a few championship or national high school regattas to scout and high school coaches get in touch with them on behalf of their star athletes. I didn’t meet my college rowing coaches until I got to college,…

This is certainly a lesson these “influencer” kids need to learn. No one would give a damn who they were if it weren’t for their parents. They, themselves, have done nothing. 

Don’t come to the Florida Keys for the beaches. They’re disappointing. 

Thank you for your story. Yes, I think now that I’ve had some time to process that it might be my future, I’ll be able to prepare for it a bit better. I still have 5 weeks for her to decide to turn, so maybe I’ll get lucky. The cesarean doesn’t seem quite as disastrous as it did yesterday. 

Traveling isn’t really an option for me. The next nearest hospital is 3 hours away.
