“Pfft, compared to those snooty EG6 and AE86 folk, the E90 and E30 people are easy to deal with.”
Uphill works too, because you’re carrying all your speed on the straights through the corners. Higher horsepower cars will be able to accelerate on the straights uphill, but hardly anything can keep up with a tS in the corners.
The height issue isn’t a problem. I’m 6'1" and have plenty of room, and my friend who is 6'4" fits comfortably too. The not liking Subaru boxers is a valid point though, I’ve often thought about how cool a built 20V 4AGE would be in one.
Generally in the SoCal canyons, other enthusiasts will have the decency to pull over and let you pass if you’re obviously keeping up a faster pace than them. The situation you stated is painfully real though, and the reason I stopped taking my AE86 to track days.
They actually have a higher quality ride than the standard setup. The only additional harshness I feel is from the 18” wheel and tire setup.
It’s actually a really good deal. For about $3500 over a BRZ Performance Package, you’re getting a bunch of STI parts that would end up costing about $9k if you added them on their own, not to mention a unique interior. The adjustable dry carbon wing alone is $3800. If you were planning on even adding just the lower…
If you love your AE86, you’ll love the new 86. (I’ve got a zenki AE86 GT-S myself.)
More like $35k after destination and the Preferred Package #3 they all seem to come optioned with.
“The BRZ looks pretty good, but it has absolutely nothing in the way of bragging rights.”
Quite a lot actually. The tS has unreal cornering speeds, it’s the ultimate momentum car. If you ever get a chance to track one, I’d recommend it.
The regular one doesn’t have side skirts.
I daily a BRZ tS in Los Angeles traffic, and it’s actually really comfortable, more so than any of the other 24 cars I’ve owned except a Jaguar XK8.
You should really try the 86 twins, it’s everything you love about an S13 with an SR swap, but with the niceness of a a new car and without the turbo lag. (current owner of an 86 twin and S13, prior owner of two other S13's.)
Power has nothing to due with whether a car can use a wing or not, cornering speeds do.
Japan gets a GR version. Rumors abound that it may come to the US for 2019 but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
In this article alone, there’s an S15 Silvia and a Stagea.
And now I’m sold. Not just on getting the game, but getting a Playstation to play it on.
