I don’t know how the holmgren thing went down but Reid was only gm for a few years and then went back to being only a coach when it was clear it wasn’t working. Very mature on all sides tbh.

It was a bit of a fad for a few years, but none of them really worked out. I am too lazy too research the actual examples. Bellicheck is obviously an outlier, as he is with most things.
There have been numerous examples of failures: Andy Reid in Philly, Holmgren..uhhh ..some others...They usually don’t do well.
I am really surprised too. I thought that they would do what you said and give him one more year as a coach only. I wouldn’t be suprised if it went down like that.
