See, I thought that too for years, until the Jalopnik article about a year ago. Strangely, Saturn was started in like 79 inside of GM. Though it wasn’t officially announced until like 85 and then cars finally started rolling out in 90/91. http://jalopnik.com/this-1979-ad-i…
WOAH!! My butt hurts just looking at it! Quite a markup!
That’s not bad, assuming it’s the total cost of the completed vehicle. For hte most part, the ones I have seen for sale included more upgrades than just the kit. Small lift, wheels /tires, etc.
In addition it’s quite pricey. I don’t recall the exact pricing, but I typically have seen these advertised in the $50k - $75k range. This kills it for most people. I know it does for me. If i am spending that much, I am going for a new Mustang GT & Rubicon Jeep for the same price basically.
Too late!
I almost put 356 but was afraid if I was wrong, it would be even worse!
WOW, NICE ONE!
I agree. It’s way to easy to lock the keys in the car as well. I did this with a Lincoln rental once. Keys wouldn’t stay in the pockets (when sitting) so the keys when in the center console. Walk away and the doors lock after XX time. Also had a Corvette rental once that at least won’t let you lock the doors with keys…
Pretty much. When you see some sedans with a small 4cyl or 6cyl diesel putting down that much torque, don’t see why it can’t be carried over to a small/midsize truck as well.
Even better is Ford leaving a lot on the table that can be realized with some Ford Performance upgrades to extra more, and keep warranty.…
How I would spec my Ranger:
Personally I don’t want any Shelby naming. I go with simply Mustang GT350R. Or better yet, Mustang Cobra R :)
This is all kinds of awesome! A true Jalop owner!
I wonder what type of impact the cheaper wheel option would have on 0-60 times. It’s lighter and has more sidewall that could increase grip. I am also curious if it may not be quite a tall as well, so it could give it a little bit of an edge in acceleration there as well.
