Far out.

The registration thing is a pain but that’s odd to hear people getting completely shafted and not getting a replacement or anything; I’ve heard Vroom do this but not Carvana. Carvana was indeed late with my registration but around 2 weeks before the temp tag expired, they called and emailed me instructing me to

In my experience, Vroom was a whole different level of shitty. I’m just one person but Carvana was pretty great to work with when shopping and test driving earlier this year. Vroom was a nightmare with communication overall and there’s no real way to test drive the car first.

You can test drive Carvana cars before signing and taking them home. I did this before eventually buying my GTI from them earlier this year. It’s not as simple as going to a lot and testing out a few, but you reserve the one you want, go and drive it (or have it delivered and test it out around your home, but I

It’s funny that as the years have gone on, I too have some light FWD cars from my younger days that have moved up my all time rankings of cars I’ve driven. Had some good friends with swapped CRXs and EG Civics in the late 90s/2000s and those things were just so wild yet composed.

Disagree. I’ve dd’d and tracked all types of drivetrain configurations over the years. Have had FWD cars I’ve enjoyed more than RWD cars, and vice versa. All can be fun, and these days all can perform pretty damn good depending on what you want to do with them. The Type R and GTI Clubsport lap times around the

lol this. I skipped GTI a few times in my life (mostly in my 20s because I thought I was too cool for a hatch). Just bought one at 37. Kind of forgot it was an option and when I needed a fun/practical car recently, was like oh yeah the GTI is exactly what I’m fucking getting. Feels perfect for someone like me that

Some people get cranky that they charge more and don’t allow haggling, and that if you’d rather pay more than deal with the haggling process you’re a big baby.

400hp and without a tune. Say what you will about the Q50 overall, but the tuners have been cranking some ponies out of these twin turbo motors. Doing the same thing in a better handling and hopefully lighter chassis? Oh man, this thing is going to be fun.

Looks good to me. And also who cares?

Nissans seem to be the car for people that just don’t care that much and don’t want to spend a ton, but also like to own a newer car every 4-5 years, or prefer leases. It’s an intersection of a few different characteristics. I think they’re fine for a simple car, but the competition is generally better at the same

What about a MK7/7.5 Golf R, or 8V Audi S3? TT RS would be sweet but the extra seating and storage of a hatch is jus also driven a two seater (350Z) for the better part of a decade a while back. I love the added practicality of the hatch and 4 doors.

Yep. While I like the base halogen headlight enclosure on the 18s better than the 15-17 halogens, the lights themselves are still lacking. The LED DRLs and fogs honestly might be brighter. Considering replacing the entire housing since popping LEDs in a reflector is generally no good. For now I have some “whiter”

Oof.... I do enjoy these cars, and drove a 2007 Aero Sedan 6-speed for a few years. I think for the trim and mileage, this is just too much. I really would have to go $4-5k tops. I struggled to sell my sedan with 80k miles, in great shape, and the more powerful motor for $4k just a couple of years ago (think I finally

OK, so even if the GTI is a higher trim of golf, it’s still someone relevant as a response to this article in that you can get a stripped down basic GTI trim (S) or one loaded with features. (SE/Autobahn)

Not sure what year you have but worth noting I think 2018+, you could get an SE or Autobahn and “delete” the leather seats and get plaid.

I was going to bring this one up, having recently purchased a 2018 S. I’m definitely feeling pretty jealous of the upgrades the SE has (larger screen, better headlights, push button, option for leather, LSD and R brakes), but like you said, the base still has that core GTI experience with the same power output and

While I have the plaid, and love them, I do also love the leather seats in the SE/Autobahn. With a gun to my head I don’t know which I’d pick haha.

VW definitely considers the GTI its own separate model. You can get a “base” GTI that is going to be missing features a fully loaded Golf TSI has. I get what you mean though and it’s debatable for sure.

As a lover of VWs, this. Even in models of the last 5 years, I keep hearing about leaking sunroofs (apparently not draining properly). VWs have been more reliable in recent years if you keep up with maintenance, but the sunroof is something I’d like to just omit. Unfortunately most of the higher trims come with
