Actually no. Verizon told Jersey and New York that it would have full fiber to every home in certain places in exchange for taking a *huge* amount of money from them, and then just didn't do it. They said they'd have 100% coverage by 2012, and I think they had in the neighborhood of like 20%. They said "oh no, we

You should *really* listen to the recording before making an arrogant post. Retention is one thing...this recording is something totally different. He was doing everything but threatening the guy to maintain service. He was outright refusing to cancel service, answer questions, or do anything helpful. He was pestering

This. I had TWC for 2 years and hated it. The speeds were never anywhere *near* their posted amounts and every single night, without fail, the internet would all but drop off from midnight to 6am. Complaints went nowhere, but I'll say they did send a good number of techs out to the house and techs replaced pretty much

Oh look, a journalist that lives in Portland that's completely for bikers and has created an entire article about fighting people that don't also fight for bikers.

I work at a software company and know how to code, but I still bought the HTML/CSS book, and I'm buying this one right now. It does a wonderful job of explaining concepts and then showing gorgeous examples of those concepts in action. I love giving people the book to look at things, because it explains them better

Here's another option: Don't go to a pub when a World Cup game is going on.

Actually I think they pretty much have the same business ideas. They're marvelously designed, they exude quality, and they look beautiful.

Careful with the "Widgets" and "File Sharing" bits. Widgets are only available in the notifications tray, and we don't know yet how limited they have to be (since that's a very small and restricted space). The File Sharing between apps part was mentioned, but looks to have very strict restrictions, as well. The most

Except that Amazon is actually doing this to prevent book prices from skyrocketing...so their actions are actually in your best interest. It may be playing hardball, but it's for a good reason.

Seriously, this. If a man says "Women are sluts", you can be guaranteed someone will chime in and say "Not all women". If someone makes a racist comment about any specific racial group, you can be guaranteed someone will chime in and say "Not all <insert people group here>".

Not to worry...the law doesn't care what General Mills thinks.

Seriously...when government entities pay extra money for no reason, it should come out of another portion of their budget. In this case, anyone connected to the problem should be let go.

The French just banned some employees from responding to work emails after work hours. A city in Sweden is trying out a 30-hour work week in earnest. But while the prospect of working less and enjoying more leisure time used to be the great futuristic promise of midcentury America, today it's little more than a

Some of you seemed to have taken my posts as "I love my job and would rather be here than anywhere else"...you've misunderstood. I still enjoy my free time. I play a lot of sports during the week or on weekends, I spend time with family and friends, and I travel when I can. I'm not saying I don't enjoy freetime...I'm

I'm just going to reply to the latest post to make it easier.

This. It's weird that a person can be ticketed for blowing a red light in a car and can be ticketed for walking across a street when the sign says don't, but a biker can be talking on the phone, weaving through traffic all over the road, not even slow down while going through stop-signs and red-lights...and then when

But they SHOULDN'T be.

Maybe it's weird, but I don't know why people really want to work less. If you're performing a job you actually enjoy, there's satisfaction in going to work every day and getting things done. It's not "work" as much when you feel that sense of accomplishment at the end of the week.

It looks awesome, but I wouldn't say it does anything the upper-end G-Shocks don't do. My Riseman has the same durability, gets the time automatically 5 times a day, recharges the battery using solar power (it's running on 6 years with a battery still at full-capacity), measures air temperature, barometric pressure,

There's one major issue with this type of feature...cameras can't handle dynamic range. I have the ability to turn my rear-view camera on while I'm driving, and if there's a car behind me (even 300-400ft behind me) with its headlights on all I see is the monstrous glare of the lights. It washes out everything, because
