I was going to say he looks an awful lot like Steven Tyler these days.

Oh, I've very much been keeping up! Regular listener of his Beats 1 program. That's one of my favorite features of Apple Music, is all those excellent radio shows. Q-Tip has one as well. And I'm hoping WRTJ will come back once they're on tour again, as the first "season" was recorded from various hotel rooms on the…
It's those layered vocals. Someone above mentioned Ween, and they're not wrong either.
Listened to this based on that comparison alone. You're not wrong. Eagerly awaiting this album now, and evidently I've been sleeping on this dude. Time to dive through the back catalog!
DC-20, right?
I was thinking the same thing, but I don't think either of them would have done it with MCA gone.
Not sure if it was this review, or the Stereogum preview that said you can "practically hear his dreads growing back" on Mobius, but it's such a great descriptor. He goes HARD on Mobius. Sounds even more vital than he did on Scenario.
I went back around 6 years ago and finally dug back through their catalog, and I'm so glad that I did. Most hip hop from that era doesn't do a lot for me, but Tribe have always been something else.
It's #1 for me, without question. RTJ3 is the only thing that could upset my Tops of 2016 list at this point, and it's got some mighty big shoes to fill now.
Well, I learned that factoid from the Rappaport documentary! But I just watched it the other day, high off their SNL appearance, so I'd be up to speed on all my Tribe Trivia.
Mine has actually been the Tribe back catalog. I have a bad habit of just throwing on the Anthology when I want to get my Tribe fix. I hadn't sat down and really listened to Low End Theory or Midnight Marauders in too long.
I think he initially left to pursue a culinary career because his verses for Low End Theory were rejected. He came back for the various live performances, but "estranged" is accurate, I think.
The only part that bothers me is he edited the review silently to correct the mistake, without making any mention of it. We know what you did, Clayton!
I wish I could upvote this more than once.
Low End Theory, by a country mile.
It most certainly holds up. Worth a replay (although I'd recommend the method I described below). The story is a little cheesy in places, but still packs a punch. I'd say the soundtrack alone is worth revisiting.
This is the beauty of the iOS version. You can max all your character stats via the settings, and turn off random encounters. This allows you to slay even the strongest of bosses with ease, and just breeze through and enjoy the story in a reasonable amount of time, grind-free.
And they've all openly stated that The Roots likely wouldn't have existed without Tribe. They certainly are the closest thing to torch bearers that we have today, though.
My favorite track changes daily. Someone mentioned this in an earlier article, but if I tried to make a list of my favorite songs, it would be…pretty much all of them except "Melatonin", and even that has its merits.
Same! I've cleansed my palate a couple times with something else, just so I don't burn myself out on it. But I can't stop. This is everything I could have wanted in a final Tribe album, and then some.
