give me a fucking break. My ebike is limited to 20mph. Most of them are like that.  That’s the industry being responsible.  Show me half that kind of self governance in cars that just jack up horsepower at every turn.

I don’t know the details but setting the default speed limit as a starting point for given roads allows the driver to slow down for such random occurrences. I don’t think the panel is suggesting that AI take over driving your car, just maxing out the speeds. This doesn’t get the driver off the hook for exceeding…

I’m sure I’m wrong somehow but seems to me burying lines is better for a lot of reasons. don’t see downed trees in a storm taking out buried lines, etc. Town replaced most of our gas lines using directional drilling from the street to the house with great accuracy.
