The Newitz/CJA io9 was something really special and unique. The io9 that exists now is still very good - I still read it often - but not that much different than loads of other sci-fi/fandom sites.
The comment section is still out but it’s telling that even in the comments of this post people are referring to Deadspin in the past tense. No one considers that Weekend-at-Bernie’s situation at the deadspin.com URL to be Deadspin.
I think most of us knew it was a matter of when, not if, you were leaving. Nonetheless, your departure still stings; you are, in my opinion, the best at what you do, and I look forward to your brand new adventure. Good luck to you in everything you do, both in your new job and outside of it.

Just popping in to say that chocolate covered matzo is amazing and I will fistfight anyone who disagrees with this. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Bananas Foster. (No reason other than I really want to eat it right now.)
Well .... bye!
Greetings, new Takeout staff member, and welcome to Kinja (TM)!
I’m not eating eight nights’ worth of matzoh unless they’re of the shmura variety. But cold brew coffee flavored macaroons? I MUST HAVE THEM
Something in a bowl, but with a thicker consistency than cereal or soup and minimal crumbiness...
And by the fall, Cantina-goers in San Ramon, California will be able to play video games while inhaling a Chalupa Supreme.
Is that lingonberry sauce on the side? Cuz I would eat the hell out of that.
I would put my money on Castro; they worked together in the Obama administration so there’s a comfort level that will probably appeal to him. I don’t see Warren being offered the position and I definitely don’t see her accepting the offer.
If you are ever at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, the best food value, by far, is the Carnegie Deli pastrami sandwich. It’s $14 for a voluminous sandwich that could feed at least two people easy, and the pastrami is the same as that of the late Carnegie’s. (The bread is supposedly the same as well, but I have my doubts.)

That just looks appetizing in a way that Subway sandwiches almost never are. I would most definitely try this as a workday lunch.
I’d gladly nuke the “good” cable news shows if it meant getting rid of the format altogether.
