It’s easier if you rid yourself of the notion of justice when it comes to criminal behavior, and just view things pragmatically: how to prevent criminal behavior and the harm it causes. Punishment as a form of deterrence can still play a role, but the notion that anyone, mentally ill or otherwise, deserves retribution

My stars, the nerve of you!

They just trot out Baldwin every week to rehash the news cycle to get “clapter” (copyright 2008 Tina Fey)

Gross

And you are very sad and frustrated. I hope things get better for you.

Yes, your position has been entirely clear from start. I think you are wrong to minimize the suffering of animals and to suggest that it is wrong to try to change people’s minds about something you care about. Clearly we disagree. But disagreement does not make me want to spout obscenities at people, either in real

Do you talk to people like that in real life? Do you just go around raging at everyone with steam coming out your ears? Or are you just an angry internet man?

did you just compare me pointing out his naivety to being on the wrong side of the Civil Rights movement and the oppression of LGBTQ? Go fuck yourself, you drama troll.

Everyone knows the best way to change minds is to speak only to people who already agree with you!

How, in your view, does virtue signalling differ from expressing a principled opinion about something?

This isn’t disagreement about “liking” burgers. This is an opinion about an industry that subjects hundreds of millions of animals to immense suffering. You don’t have to care about that, but it’s absurd to equate Doron Diamond’s comment as a “stop liking what I don’t like” response.

Live your life, live your truth, but don’t attempt to force your beliefs on others.

I urge you not to try to control what people say on the internet to learn to accept differing opinions.

Because they have a legitimate opinion to share? Believe it or not, you are not the ultimate arbiter of truth and reason.

I don’t think Doron Diamond was suggesting that we would have a meat-free society in a decade. I think they were suggesting that we will ultimately be ashamed at our collective callous disregard for the immense suffering of animals. Even if we never become a vegetarian society, the way that we treat livestock today is

You are right. Sorry you are getting a lot of shit from trolls who don’t handle disagreement well. Know that there are plenty of reasonable people who read your comment and took it to heart without further comment.

how dare people write about food that people like to eat on a website about food without considering YOUR feelings on the matter.

I don’t think you understand what “signalling” means.

Jesus, take it down a notch.

While I’d love to think the DNC is there for the people to tell it what to do, that’s not how the National Council works on either side of the aisle
