The brake recalibrate thing IS actually true for cars with drum brakes that have self adjusters. If you have 4 wheel disks like most today (but not just 10 years ago!) do, or you have drums without self adjusters (like my ‘61 Corvair!) then the advice doesn’t apply. You don’t need to be going fast, just hit them hard

Damn, that is a brilliant analogy.

I want to know what kind of safety rating a D9R would get...

No, it wasn’t Nader that killed the Corvair. Nader’s book extended it’s life as GM had to prove that Nader was wrong. If you want to see the real killer, you have to look to the Mustang, Camaro, and Nova. $2000 for a Nova vs $2500 for a Corvair vs $2800 for a Camaro? Who wants a Corvair? Not many people in 1968.

My problem that is making the hope of retirement very bleak, I’ve been putting money into retirement accounts since 1999. And in 17 years now, I’m not even to $100K because most of those years I’d have been better off investing in aluminum cans. On average I’ve put 10% in, but for a decade the average return was

Give me a Lamborghini R8. Inclimate weather, and road conditions be damned.

So you’re saying Ezekiel23:19-20 is a bad password now?

I know my 401k investments sure did!

On the plus side, this is clearly a dismantler who is rather familiar with the niche market cars and wouldn’t call putting a Fiero engine in it an upgrade...
