My assumption is that the process of getting and keeping up with contacts may do more harm than good for people. When I was 17, I asked my eye doctor for contacts to hide my nystagmus.(my eyes move around on their own) My doctor turned me down because he thought the contacts may damage my eyes.

I wish wearing sunglasses indoors didn't have the connotations it does because it sucks to have an eye condition you can't properly handle because of social graces.
