The guy on the right just portrays villains, the guy on the left actually is one.

So what if some kids aren’t living up to their football potential? Does that really matter in the context of life?
Thank you for this. I'd argue that if these idiot coaches want to claim that they're emulating boot camp conditions, then they need to go through boot camp themselves. I wonder how many actually could.
I started hearing these kinds of claims just a few years ago, this idea that football is so essential to the very fabric of America that the republic would fail without it. It’s such self-serving, transparent bullshit and yet so many people buy it.
Well there you have it. Marine boot camp in the era of Full Metal Jacket = safer than the University of Maryland training facilities.
If you take, say, $2 million of that and distribute it among, what, 80 kids in a typical program? That’s $25,000 per kid. I’m not saying that’s sufficient for the value they bring, but right there you’re talking real money, without even considering any other source.
This obviously wasn’t always the case, but today our military drill instructors know better than to pull this kind of bullshit. We treat our future soldiers better than we treat kids playing a game.
Translation: “I use these same exact ‘coaching’ tactics.”
Those candy bars are clearly an impermissible benefit. This program is out of control.
If Cameron had made Spider-Man, he’d probably just now be finishing up Spider-Man 2.
“They actually called some players ‘thieves’ for being on scholarship and not being very good.
Good. Maryland is going to be forever known as “the school where the coaches made a kid practice until he died.” There are a lot of people who could’ve prevented such a travesty from taking place, and they all need to eat their share of the blame.
I suggest you let the school know that you will be canceling your season tickets if they don’t fire the entire coaching and training staffs.
Oh, I agree with you completely. If I indicated otherwise, I misspoke. Let the trashy films live, by all means. I like to indulge in those myself from time to time. But let’s not pretend that those are art.
Maybe there’s not a big enough market for medium budget thoughtful movies anymore. I don’t know that The Godfather would be a hit today. Too many people now really just want to see lots of explosions and gunfights.
Seems as though Rollingonthefloorlaughingmyassoff dismissed my reply to him, which certainly proves that he is Totally Not Mad.
Sounds like you have some immaturity issues to work through.
I feel like playing James Bond would be a step down after Stacker Pentecost.
I’m looking forward to Sony hiring Marvel to reboot the Venom series in about five years or so.
I take solace from the example of the broadcaster Mike Wallace, who battled suicidal thoughts into his 90s and died of natural causes. If he could fight it and win, so can I, and I will.
