If they don’t clearly define what’s included in VIP packages and have a hard limit on how many they’re selling, beware...

Went to a whiskey festival/Auerbach concert recently and paid extra for some random VIP benefits and entrance to an “exclusive viewing area” for the concert. Thought it would be worth, wasn’t a ton

I work for a festival that is club crawl style (at 12-14 venues ranging in capacity from 200-2,000ish). It’s in a small city and all the venues are walking distance and we have some larger acts but also lots of cool smaller acts that don’t play many festivals or acts that typically don’t come to that city often and

Maybe people are starting to realize that, when you don’t really care about the music, shelling out big bucks for a three day hang in an Instagram friendly environment isn’t as fulfilling as they hoped it would be.

hear you. I just do not have the attention span to do that. I’ve seen seven shows in my little town so far this summer, and they were outstanding. Home by 11:30.

Hey, that’s the name of the game.

Not a surprise at all. Festivals seem to be becoming more and more homogenized, and the costs of admission, let alone concessions (and in some cases, lodging), keep rising.

Exactly. Who is going to pay good money to hang out in what is essentially North Alabama, unless they are also going to State College to get drunk?

Overpriced, overcrowded, with dubious talent headlining these festivals make it a non-starter for me. I mean what are they trying to do - bring back the old days of the 1970's when thousands piled into a tiny, confined space to listen to a band play music?

Part of what makes festivals fun is when you get an experience you wouldn’t get elsewhere. Trying to be “The Next Bonaroo or Coachella” is dumb because if I wanted to get a Bonaroo or Coachella experience (which, for the record, I wouldn’t), I’d go to Bonaroo or Coachella.

It’s like a switch flipped for me. I am in my 30s and the very first time I felt old was when I was on the cusp of 30 at FPSF in Houston a couple of years ago. We sprang for the fancy pants tickets with air conditioned tents and I still almost died of heatstroke (because music festival in June in Houston)

As someone turning 30 pretty damn soon, the idea of paying hundreds of dollars to go to a crowded festival that may involve sleeping in tents just... doesn’t cut it anymore. The only festivals I’ll go to are the ones that are in/around major urban areas, and there are more than enough of those that I can see major

If these promoters want to Take a Chance On...... a new event, they should book ABBA.

My sisters are literally on their way right now to Electric Forest in Michigan and tried to convince me to spend $700 on a VIP pass for 3 days.

I think most of the acting is pretty good for the genre.

A friend of mine was asking if Ashley Benson has any other films or tv shows or personal appearances at the grand opening of a new Uniqlo or anything coming up in the near future. Does anyone know? Obviously I don’t care one way or the other but I want to be able to tell my friend, who is not dumb and pathetic like

Well, that’s the thing with liberals. A liberal will say, “we should do it this way, although I appreciate that the other side has a different perspective that has some value to it.” A conservative will say, “we should do it this way, and the other side needs to be run out of town.”

Well, PBS did a propaganda piece for Betsy Devos’s dream of charter schools for future zionists. All in a day’s work.

And she has to deal with this crap:

I’m doing a lot as a public servant and jester to the American public.
