But not everyone of the same ethnicity would even speak the partner’s relative’s language(s). Out of all the first cousins on my dad’s side, I’m the only one who married non-Chinese, but none of my cousins’ spouses come from Cantonese-speaking families. And my relatives’ Mandarin is fairly rudimentary. We all just

Good to know. Thanks.

But people are also not as religious as they were in the past - whether one is Jewish, Catholic, Buddhist or whatever (at least in North America). And closed faiths can be a bit uncomfortable. I have heard of Jewish Chinese adoptees being questioned about their religious affiliation by classmates at Hebrew school -

Maybe I’m just fortunate, but no white guy has ever even thought I was “submissive.” I DID go out with two guys who were so-called “Asiaphiles/Sinophiles,” but they were just interested in the cultures and upon figuring out I was only vaguely in touch with my heritage (i.e. “enough” to please my relatives (to an

“White” is not an ethnicity (neither is “Asian,” which would apply to me). Scottish, German, English, Russian, etc, however, are (they’re also nationalities, of course).

Meh. Don’t do weird cleanses.

We have a place called The Soup Nutsy here. At least one of the locations even has a signed picture from the cast.

Yep...in Crewcuts:

Here’s a glow-in-the-dark Darth Vader shirt:

This is only based on what I’m seeing on the Old Navy site. And in Canada, the Star Wars stuff is online only. At least society is okay with girls wearing boys’ clothes, so moms can pretend it’s neutral. Would love to have seen a Rey shirt, though.

At Old Navy and J.Crew, there are Star Wars-related boys’ tops, but none for girls. Dumb licensing move, IMHO.

But will they run into a Chipotle-like health issues?

Had Christmas dinner last night (only day we could have the entire family (or more accurately, anyone on my dad’s side of the fam living in Toronto) together), so leftovers tonight. Tomorrow? I’m making bread pudding for brunch and then watching a movie (either Netflix or Apple TV) and ordering in.

No Elf (or Mench - we are interfaith) for our household when we have kids. Sorry, it’s very 1984 to me.

He’s become so crazy that I’m beginning to wonder whether he’s mocking his so-called supporters. He’s just really good at it (or his supporters are too stupid to realize that what he’s doing).

What about minions?

What about Farro? Freekeh?

Based on some of my posts and personal views on society, I was once called/implied to be an “over-privileged brat.” If I am (and if an Asian woman who is the child of immigrants can even be one), then I am NOT SORRY. #justsayin

The vast majority of religions (not just Islam) are run by men and have rules that really shouldn’t apply today. I think ALL FAITHS (well, most) should be criticized, whether the leadership likes it or not. #sorrynotsorry

Language classes are kind of necessary? It’s not good to be isolated in a new country, after all. And learning language also comes learning the culture(s). If the immigrants/refugees have children who are attending school, a huge cultural gap could very well develop because the kids are being told/learning one thing

I tried too! Got to the front of the line, entered my info, pressed pay and then got an error message. :(
