A cottage is what people in parts of Ontario (or more specifically, the Greater Toronto Area) call a “summer home”. Many people own them, but others rent. My family, having only arrived in Toronto in the 1970s, never owned one (even though we had the money) because it isn’t part of their culture. My husband and I,

This movie makes a great drinking game for those of us from Toronto. Every time you spot allocation that is obviously Toronto, take a sip.

I think this is just weird. I dunno. Probably not. And what if the parents are slim/somewhat similar to “ideal” size? I might not look like a model, but there are plenty of celebrities who are similarly sized to me.

The dorky looking one behind “Gabrielle Carteris/Andrea” and “Shannen Doherty/Brenda” is supposed to be “Brian Austin Green/David” I think.

Well the Ian Ziering is way, way cuter. I always thought Ian Z/Steve Sanders was the least attractive of the boys.

“I *AM* big. It’s the *PICTURES* that got small.”

TKAM is the PC version of the original book. From what I’ve been hearing, that’s what the publishers wanted because GSAW would “offend” many. Don’t know if that’s true. I’m only 35. I wasn’t around in the late 50s/early 60s.

Another experiment I’d like to conduct: Two resumes, both women - one a Jennifer and the other a Jenny. I legally changed my name from Cindy to Cynthia because I was worried...

Wonder if this will eventually replace the Factory stores. By using the J.Crew name, this isn’t exactly the same as Old Navy and GAP. More apples to oranges, IMHO.

Paternity leave is a “foreign concept” in Canada too. Most of the time, women take the entire year, rather than splitting the parental leave portion (35 weeks) with the spouse. I know of ONE guy who took off the entire parental leave portion while his wife went back after 16 weeks. Caused eyerolls. It shouldn’t.

In Canada, the most open church is the United Church of Canada (basically a mix of Methodist, Presbytarian and Congregational). A (former) minister was a recovering/former drug addict turned left wing politician! I think most (many?) will solemnize same sex couples and have so since same sex marriage was officially

Cookie Monster fell off the wagon and no longer considers cookies a “sometimes food.”

Logos have ALWAYS been seen as tacky - save for some super new money folks who seem to only want to show off. It’s always more proper to be subtle.

I’m not surprised, since they didn’t even publish one for June (?) or July. And it’s already June 15.

It’s one thing to identify with or feel more comfortable with one ethnicity/race and a WHOLE FREAKING OTHER to actually think you’re ethnically/racially whatever you’re not, genetically speaking. Being a banana/black forest cake (in the case of this woman if she didn’t actually SAY she’s black/partially

No, she’s never played Cosette. Cosette is a soprano role and Lea is a mezzo. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a non-white actress play the role (well, teen Cosette, anyway. I may have seen/heard about an Asian Young Cosette (outside of Asian productions), but I could be imagining things).

Here lies the problem. To me, curvy means a small waist in proportion to hips and chest. This person can be of any size, even a 00. I think we have forgotten what “curvy” really means.

Happens in theatre sometimes. I’ve seen productions of Les Miserables where Eponine (as a teen) is played by a non-white actress while Young Eponine, a silent role, is white. Of course, Young Eponine also plays Young Cosette in some shows. I have yet to see a non-white Cosette, though (singing in English, anyway).

You mean more Asian than Caucasian? “American” =/= white.

I don’t think you HAVE to cast someone of EXACT ethnicity for a role. However, they HAVE to be from the same/similar race. I’m technically Chinese, but am always mistaken as Filipina, Thai or Vietnamese. I have also been asked if I’m Malaysian or Indonesian. Some Chinese people don’t even “believe” that I’m Chinese.
