"Wait, let me Tweet this first. Then we can take a selfie."

They give actual cakes in HK? Here in Toronto, families usually give out gift cards to (Chinese) bakeries. We added them to all the Toronto-area invites (at least for my side of the family). As for gold/trinkets, I'm not a bling-bling kind of girl and my mom knows that, so I didn't get a lot of jewellery. However,

I'm wondering if this McDonald's reception thing is for people who have morning ceremonies. They use this as a lunch reception for some of their friends, while the big (Chinese) banquet is in the evening.

Wait, this is news? I think I read about thus a year or so ago? As for McDonald's in Hong Kong, they're a bit nicer than the ones here, but it's definitely not fancy (I do have to say that their Starbucks sells lasagna. Not that it's actually made there).

That I am good with. I am uncomfortable with multiple people mixed bathrooms.

Well, I don't scream "regionist" (or whatever the proper term is) if someone says that a place is "colder than Canada."

N-word comments, I get, but "it's hotter than Africa in here" is racist? Never knew/realized.

7 for All Mankind is known to do this too.

The Anglican Church of Canada is much more progressive as well. We've had woman bishops for 20 years.

Good thing the Church of England doesn't govern the entire Anglican Communion. We (Canada) have had women bishops for (nearly) 20 years. Her name is Victoria Matthews and she graduated from my high school. She was up with another woman, who was, the time, headmistress at my school (and is an Old Girl of a rival

I guess it's all about demographics. While not the majority, there are enough people here who are on the smaller end (we're about 20% East and Southeast Asian (i.e. including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, etc...)) with at least some spending power (i.e. shoppers at mid-range to premium levels).

What's the deal with mass market denim lines NOT using waist sizing? All premium lines (at least the ones I can think of (and that I wear)) are waist based.

Where do you live? Definitely not the case here in Toronto (or whenever I go to Manhattan). Lots of 4-10, not many 00, 0, 2s or 12+.

I think that would be the natural reaction from the organization - that they would offer to give someone two months free. It's their way of saying that they're sorry for your grandfather's passing. They totally don't mean to stereotype. Now, if they heard somewhere that your grandfather died and then sent a letter

Definitely not the case. Both my husband and I are one size smaller with a certain well-known premium denim line.

Well, H&M's smallest size is a 2 and that corresponds with 00 at places like Banana Republic or Ann Taylor. So you just add a couple of sizes from those places to get your H&M size. Same with Zara.

They usually list inseam lengths online. What bugs me is when stores have both short and petite and the inseam is more or less the same. I guess it has to do with the rise. "Short" is for people with longish torsos but short legs, but "petite" is for people who are proportionately short.

Or foot extension. I'm on the opposite side of the shoe spectrum at 4 1/2 (well, I really should be a 5, but shoes have started to vanity size) which basically means that I've been sized out of most mid-priced brands (Nine West et al). I spend a bit more money on shoes from brands like Stuart Weitzman because they

If it isn't vanity sizing, then can you explain to me why a 1995 (or 1996) size 2 skirt from J.Crew fits me just as well as a 00 from 2013? Back in the mid-90s, their size 2 was their smallest size and fit people with 24"ish waists. Today that's more like a 00.

000 is the new 00. In other words, when J.Crew introduced 00 in 2005 or 2006, the waist was for 23". Now it's 24". Which, of course, in reality is closer to 25. Because that's what they do. Meanwhile, 00P is still 23".
