The vast majority of Tesla buyers park it next to their Range Rover or Escalade. They never drive it 200 miles before a recharge, they drive it where their social group will see them. They don’t really care about the environment, they care that their friends and neighbors think they care about the environment.

Tesla doesn’t sell technology, they sell an image. There are BEV options available butbTesla buyers are not cross shopping those, they are looking for the image/political statement the car makes.

There is pretty much more everything at that price point. NVH standards in 2005 (even for Bentley) are a long ways form today. Hell, a current Accord likely delivers a smother, quieter ride and sharper handling.

There is also an element of truth to what you are saying...but there is a lot more “most for their money” elsewhere at a $42k price point.
