whoa, really? links?
Dude, Camilla is a fucking mess and an obvious alcoholic. I’m all for people getting drunk and messy drama on tv for entertainment purposes, but that girl always takes it to a level where it just starts to feel like I’m watching a sad alcoholic falling apart. That girl needs help.
I embarrassingly admit I’m a longtime fan of the show and I remember the time frame you’re talking about when a lot of the male “regulars” came back extremely jacked-up and it was very much implied by the rest of cast members that they were all ‘roid-ed up.
Scandalous! Where’d you hear this? Links?
You make valid points!
Thanks for your response, I hear that. But I have to wonder how much we can demand from a vh1 reality TV show too.
Like I mentioned, I go to drag shows here in NYC and I’m a fan of a particular local cis-woman drag queen. But we’re not just talking about drag in general here. I think what makes it complex is the fact this is a reality tv show. Like you said, Ru’s version is a McDrag. How do trans women & cis women fit into that?…
“it’s inhernelty misogynistic and homophobic as well.”
With age comes wisdom, so I would necessarily write Ru off so quick. And I also dont think he hates millennials or inclusivity.
Ah ok gotcha. I only occasionally listen to Ru’s podcast, but I always find Ru incredibly insightful. Its funny, because I’m right on the border of Gen X & Millennial (I’m technically a millennial but I’m old enough to remember 90s Ru) so usually when I hear criticism on my generation, I understand both sides of it.
I agree, I find it offensive. Though, I admit I laughed when Gia Gunn made her entrance and said something like “Just got off the boat, fresh tilapia”
Dang I think you nailed it.
This is a complex issue and I’m having trouble understanding it. While I understand the backlash - drag is an art form and should be inclusive - if they let trans women on the show, that means they can allow cis women on it. I have nothing against cis women drag queens (I’m actually a fan of a local one here in NYC)…
Do you mind elaborating on Ru’s disdain for millennials? That gets mentioned on reddit sometimes and I dont know what the source is.
Don’t let any of these people ruin your favorite movies.
Actually you may be right. I think Shangela has a great shot.
I’m not saying the producers planned this from the beginning. I think they make these decisions as they go along.
You might be right, but I definitely think the producers worked hard to give this a “gag of the season” somehow. Either way, I think its a safe bet to say that Dela’s self-elimination was not a surprise to Ru and the producers.
You might be right, Shangela has a good chance. As long as its not Bebe.
