At least there are cars that can be repossessed and resold to mitigate the loss. When the housing market dropped, house values also dropped and are still down in some of the hardest hit areas. Waze is great and all, but the simple fact that it’s very easy to become a map editor is exactly the reason it shouldn’t be used by any military for routing.

The larger ads only show up while you are stopped, and are very easy to dismiss. I don't mind them as somebody needs to pay for their bandwidth.

I hear you. I rarely look at the app while driving, keep it below my line of vision so I’m not watchyit the whole time. Maybe that’s why the pins don’t bother me. I’ve been using Waze for a few years now and stand by it as hands down the best nav app around.

I use waze in and around Boston every drive multiple times a day and I never notice intrusive pins on the map.

There’s also Garmin’s Navigon app with very good offline map storage. You can download entire states. I liked this a lot but since I have coverage almost everywhere I go I’ve migrated to Waze completely.

Several PDs have spoken up stating that they appreciate the notataions on the map because their end goal is not to hand out tickets, but to get people to slow down.

Something very important about Waze that's missing from this article is the ease with whoch a Wazer can update the map, correct or add a road that isn't there, and join the editing community. So if you want to use Waze but find it lacking or incorrect in your area, you can fix it or get it fixed quickly and easily!

Another commenter pointed out that Red Truck guy had an EMT passenger and was getting the truck/trailer combo out of the way for emergency vehicles before they went to help. So that’s good!
