In my experience, lifting the throttle blindly like that is a good way to spin a FWD or AWD vehicle. The reason is that the weight shifts to the front, which gives them more traction (and engine braking)... by which time the rears hit the black ice patch and so the car spins.

Having driven motorcycles in snow on several occasions, I can confirm that yes it is bad. Then again the sadness at parking the bike for the winter goes away pretty quickly once I hit the gas in my Subaru and throw 4 white rooster tails while sliding sideways. To everything there is a season!

Came here to say this, I test rode probably 10 bikes before buying the STR. Only bike that made me really sit up and take notice. Not the most powerful for sure, but loads of character and more than enough power for my skills.
