You’re wrong. Your aversion to non-functional hood scoops and vents is entirely rational.

It needs the giant grill to distract everyone from the fact that without it, it just looks like an Accord Coupe.

So this is an extremely rushed photoshop job, but here’s what it could have looked like with a smaller grille. I literally grafted on the grille/middle bumper from the previous 4 Series lol.

Both have tail lights. Checks out.

I hope the spindle grill is larger and more spindly. splindlike. spindlish.

Elio was run by muppets who barely had a chance of making a car at any price. And who said anything about an American company? Imagine if Chang Li quintupled its budget for a car and were allowed to sell it here.

Hell, he could attach a shopping cart to the front and drive it through the aisles at the grocery store.

How long before you come out of a store to find a petulant child sitting in it and a harrassed parent trying to find where to put the coins in?

Two, so far.

Warr...an...ty....?

There’s no point trying to figure it out, because Trump is a fucking moron who doesn’t understand how crumple zones work.  He was complaining that cars get too badly damaged in wrecks, and that if we relax fuel economy standards we can use “more steel” to make them stiffer.  These heavy, durable cars will be safer

Because some people are short sighted assholes who ruin things for everyone else.

The makers want there to be a uniform set of rules. Few makers put seat belts into cars until it was mandated because the slight difference in cost might affect sales. They didn’t care about the additional $10 in cost as long as every maker had to do the same. Same with airbags and other changes.

Oil companies are richer than both the people and the  car companies combined.

If people want fuel efficient vehicles (as they seem to) and manufacturers want to manufacture them (which they seem to) then why does there need to be an over-complicated bureaucratic mess put in place to make it happen?

Actually, Trump doesn’t care what happens. He just needed to show his voters he is shoving it to California. If it gets shut down in court, he can claim liberal activist judges. It’s all an election ploy.

Any automaker that sells outside the US (so all of them) will make sure their engineering teams are targeting the higher limits.

Joe drives a Corvette, Trump just drives people nuts.

Careful what you wish for. Watching Biden continually attempt to blast his foot off while his campaign runs damage control is giving me anxiety about November.

These rule changes will be tied up in litigation for years which was THE POINT. The administration (if you can even call it that) knew everyone would sue. But they also knew that the more stringent emissions standards couldn’t be enacted while the litigation is ongoing.
