Yeah, I just happened to be going through a sneezing fit when I read your comment.

This is too bad. I actually really liked his older stuff, and I was sorry when he fell in with the trump crowd (and his music took a marked downturn). Still, it’s a loss and you never like to see it.

It’s the old “prematurely anti-fascist” thing where you were right but its suspicious you were right before we decided it was right, so you don’t get to be right

I feel especially for the Chicks, who were excoriated and mocked on these very pages when they decided in 2020 to change from their original name... which was a bad name, it’s true! But there was no acknowledgment that they were some of the few artists in 2003 with the temerity to go against the mainstream when it

One strange, frustrating feature of the politics around the Iraq War is that a broad consensus has emerged that the war was a colossal mistake, without any corresponding acknowledgement that the people saying that in 2003 were right. I suspect that many of the people who were eager to vilify the Dixie Chicks in 2003

The Zodiac is stupid and I think less of anyone who believes in it. When you were born doesn’t fucking matter.

Mental illness and live breakdowns are never pretty to see in real time

I think Deb is obviously hoping that if Stewart only does one show per week, he'll be able to cram the best material into that one show, rather than spacing it out across four.

well at least it’s fey ripping herself off i guess. happy tim meadows is still getting a cheque.

The Color Purple, now Mean Girls. I think Hollywood has run out of ideas.

I’ve always felt that Ben simply hates the paps. He was unrelentingly plagued by the paps during his alcoholism and failing marriage to Jen Garner. What we see in images of him is an absolute refusal to “smile” for the photographers: the exhausted visage of someone who simply feels harassed. I wouldn’t be surprised if

Ben looks like a normal East Coast guy in his 50s. Not everyone is all smiles all the time.

I’ve commented on Ben posts before and it bears repeating: he’s just from Boston. This is what our city vibe is like. It’s not unhappy, it’s just resting Boston face.

This site has been turned into gossip celebrity blog to think anyone who “used to” read AVClub cares about Markle rather than Gina Torres.

If anyone is disappointed in seeing Gina Torres instead of Megan Markle, then I pity you. What is she? A big damn hero.

Godfather Part 2 enters a bit of a grey area since the entire prequel story with De Niro is taken directly from the original book, so does that count as enough of the movie to make adapted more fitting?

I agree, and it’s a shame, because adaptation is incredibly difficult. I’ve adapted numerous non-fiction books into films for PBS and streaming, American history mainly, and I have immense respect for screenwriters who must adapt. Because converting a book or any existing IP into a movie, is like cramming a square peg

I don't like either comment. And yet here I am commenting.

it’s so funny how nebulous and manipulatable the charts are now that it’s not tied to physical sales in any way.
