Internal memos show that it was considered, but some of the executives associated with Star Wars felt there was too much IP overlap with the First Order.

The biggest issue with Rise of Skywalker is that it should have been 2 parts. There was just too much to pack into one movie. If they had the freedom of Mandalorian to push content out in a 8-part 4 or 5 hour long format the fan service would not have felt so “in your face”. It is hard to compare these two (Rise and Read more

I loved when free ad-supported Hulu would occasionally give you the option to watch thirty second ads sprinkled throughout the video, or if you’d prefer you could watch one three minute or so ad at the beginning. I always took the latter option. I could just do something else in another tab instead of watching the car Read more

I’m so fucking tired of advertising, and so glad for adblockers in my browsers, a DVR with a skip function, and usenet. Ads have ruined cable/satellite TV, print media, the internet and mobile gaming. FFS I picked up a copy of Popular Science last week and had to go 22 pages into it to find the first piece of content. TV and Radio were the future though. They didn’t go away

No, what RoS needed was a prequel that kept the story movie from the previous prequel instead of trying to derail the whole enterprise. “And then Broom Boy shows up 20 years later as a self-trained Force Ninja and saves the day” is not a legitimate way for an 8th entry in a 9-movie saga to wrap up.

Remember when there was a point around 2012-2015 when we thought that Streaming would be the future and that Netflix would be an amazing library of all the media we could possibly want? Read more

This misses the point about why TROS is getting bagged on by everyone and Mando is not. It’s the story, not the fan service. Read more

I don’t really give a fuck that he said it; considering everyone of us, including me even though I support Warren, has had this discussion on whether a woman can win the election.  In the right context; it’s not meant to be sexist. Read more

I’ve now spent hours with the sequel characters and with the exception of Kylo Ren I barely know how they tick. I’ve spent a similar amount of time with Mando and feel like I know him.

I was just going to comment about how apropos it is to compare Mandalorian and Solo. They both are “small” stories, but Mandlorian does it much better for the reasons you’ve mentioned.

Life confuses me sometimes. Of the dozens of friends/family/coworkers I know that have seen TROS, literally all of them (myself included) enjoyed it. I don’t know, maybe it’s because we’re all older (GenX)? We grew up on the originals, absolutely loathed the prequels, and enjoyed the sequels. I think this has come Read more

My brother is a Bernie supporter, and a rabid one at that. I supported Bernie in the 2016 primary (and was even a caucus level delegate for him), but prefer Warren this time around for the primary, and you would think I’ve told him I’m a Trump supporter he’s so nasty about it. Last summer I even told him I didn’t want Read more

The Mandalorian adds much to Star Wars lore. The prequel trilogy, though executed terribly, added lore and had a solid story. Read more

Objectively? It was a private conversation 2 years ago. What is it you are looking at “objectively” to make any determination here?

Right? We’ve been playing “what if” since Return of the Jedi, if not earlier. Hell, Lucas had Splinter of the Minds’s eye ready just for the “what if?” the original movie wasn’t a smash hit.
