@Zandr: Ahh, see the paper mill had been gone for years by the time I got there, and the fish processing plant was operating at such a low capacity, you maybe got that smell, what, once, twice a season? Now, all you get is that amazing smell of sea air, mixed with the musty smell of decay from the rainforests on the

@Pete Gaines: Pete, that's Alaska. Palin territory? That's kinda like saying, "There's nothing wrong with marrying your cousin, they do it all the time in Alabama."

@boosted-lego-wagon -> now boosted to 350hp: While you know I love you, Mr. Wagon, I have to disagree, having lived in the North for the last 10 years: Prince George was the furthest south I lived before now. Prince George and Prince Rupert had a fair-sized Inuit population, and UNBC has a lot of Inuit students.

Also: Ray, the term "Eskimo" is considered racist, just as an FYI. It would be equivalent to using the n-word when referring to African culture.

I've heard every variation on this truck, from it being a competitor for the Honda... whateverthefuckit'scalled thing, to it being a three-quarter-ton work-horse with an 800lb-ft diesel V10.

Super Car: Veyron. Duh.

@ぶっちぎり IN THE FACE!: I drive a Stage IV Corrado. I think most of what he had done was the chip and fuel delivery upgrades. Injector upgrades, that sort of thing. It was almost 4 years ago, I can't remember for the life of me, but he told me the biggest upgrade in a Jetta is to do the chip. Most everything else you do

::facepalm::

Somehow, I feel like that photo needs the caption OM NOM NOM underneath it.

@engineerd: ...followed monthly by fantastically obscene catalogs, left conspicuously on your doorstep, with your name emblazoned in big bold letters in the address box.

@Matt McDougall: The numbers have proven it over the years though. Diesel Mercedes and VWs make up a much, much bigger percentage of sales in Canada than they do in the US. (Sorry, I'm at work with limited internet, so I can't quote you stats, but I'm sure if you checked that'd bear true.)

@Mad_Science: Mr. Science, I knew there was a reason I liked you. A TDI SportWagen and a GTO would make up a healthy percentage of my (realistic) dream garage as well.

@ぶっちぎり IN THE FACE!: There are a LOT of aftermarket hop-up kits for the TDI VWs. On the old Gen IVs, just adding a chip brought the numbers up by something like 40%, no other mods required. I went balls-to-the-wall against a hopped up Gen IV TDI Jetta a few years ago (driven by a cop, on an abandoned air-strip...

These are everywhere up here, and even ignoring my VW bias, I love them. Actually, that bias is easy to ignore, because I really don't like the styling of the Gen V Rabbits and Jettae.

@Graverobber: Dammit, every time I start thinking I'm clever, Graverobber has to throw down the trump card.
