The “light truck” and subsequent “SUV” classifications have always been politically motivated junk. Its just funny the way its coming back around.

More realistic for the Dems to find a Republican they could support and do an end run around McCarthy.”

Very unpopular car opinion: We should heavily dis-incentivize owning large vehicles: require extra licensing to drive them, tax them extra at time of purchase and tax them extra on license renewal.

Owning an SUV or pickup truck should cost significantly more than a normal car (with cut outs for businesses owning

Carmakers: “Batteries are too expensive. We can’t do this!” Also Carmakers, “Check out the size of the battery in our Dodgforeverolet Behemoth, bro! Own the libs! Roll coal EV-sTyLe!!!!11!!1!!”

This is why the EV incentives are powerful. A couple small tweaks to the qualifications aimed at vehicle weight class, or

Damn, I was really hoping this wasn’t the case. If anyone here is thinking of doing a murder-suicide, do the second part first okay.

I’m gonna put my money down on driver distraction.

What a horrible experience for the family of the deceased and what a traumatic experience for the passengers on the plane. Yikes.

In a way, it is a good move, there is plenty of PHEV offering in Europe so manufacturers already have the products available. Look, just as an example, why is BMW only brining the X1 in Canada with one ICE engine when the PHEV is available in Europe ? Because they have to in Europe. I think it will benefit consumers.

1. Fuck every single driver that’s going fast enough to do this on a public road.

So I live in California and started riding an e-bike for all my local trips. For longer distances I take public transit, anything to limit use of my gas-powered car. It wasn’t really because I thought there was price gouging, but mostly out of environmental concern after coming to the conclusion that I can’t support

you realize that 7.3 is 27% higher than even frances 5.8.  thats a significant increase in traffic deaths.

Thing is cars have become increasingly safer for the driver, but despite all the manufacturer efforts not necessarily so for pedestrians unless we dials speeds right back.

If trains were a realistic option in the U.S., I would never go through the PITA that is a plane ride if I could get there in under 2 1/2 hours on a train. As it stands now, I’ll drive for at least 4 hours before I even begin to consider taking a plane.
