Ditto. I’ve been here for years and am still in the f*cking greys. Kinja is an absolute useless joke of a commenting system. The only reason I’m still here is Torch. If he goes, I’ll follow him.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t know.

They are. That’s the version that is selling for $44,900 here in Canada to qualify the Ioniq 5 for the federal incentive. Here they are calling it the “Essential” trim level. Unlike in the US, they are offering a higher trim version of the same base powertrain, probably so they have two models under CDN$50k.

Good opportunity for the aftermarket!

I’m sure this is a huge relief for the family of these two kids. Still heartbreaking.

It’s worse than just the fact they aren’t driven much, and therefore save a negligible amount of CO2 emissions. They actively add CO2 emissions, because collector cars will never be driven enough to repay the CO2 deficit their conversion occurs.

It is truly and epically absurd. I don’t particularly like it, but it I also love it.

Oh man, f*ck those guys! I hate that kind of b.s.

Excellent comment. Please take a star.

I believe the future is small batteries coupled with ultra-fast charging. A battery that would get me 300km of range at 110km/h (186mi at 68mi/h) that could gain 100 miles in five minutes would be ideal for any use case I would have for a car. I suspect it would serve a lot of people’s needs.

Thanks for reminding me how jaw-droppingly stupid the premise of that movie was.

I’m certain Tesla is not the first car company to think of casting a subframe to minimize part count. I’m certain, too, that every other car company that thought of the idea has come up with some very good reasons not to do it, or we would have seen it already. Despite what some believe, Musk is not some unique kind

My grandparents had one of these. It was a brilliant little car, actually. By today’s standards, too small to be a crossover. And, of course, “crossover” wasn’t a thing back then, so to me it was just a station wagon with sliding doors.

A software guy I used to work with went to work at Tesla on their Autopilot program (before it launched). He got a first-hand look at how Elon treats managers there. He put in his two years and got out.

The guy could have gotten surgery to make his weenie bigger for a lot less than 6 million.

In my experience, the heat on transit buses isn’t for the passengers; it’s there so the driver can do his/her eight hour shift in short sleeves. As a passenger, there’s nothing worse than being bundled up for freezing outdoor temperatures, then sitting (or worse, standing) on a bus with the heat cranked up to room

If by “...something is wrong with you” you mean “You’re obviously older than 12,” then yes.

Several people responding to you about property taxes clearly have no idea how property taxes work.

Frequent road-trippers would be best served by Tesla’s network at present. One would hope that third-party networks grow soon and fast.

I can confirm your fine bit of sleuthing, because Mississauga is right in the title of the video. ;)
