I think Teslas are aspirational for a lot of younger, tech-obsessed folks, so I’m not really surprised.

Some great comments on this post. Writing laws to deal with vehicle noise is difficult, and I don’t know if anyone has done it right. Combine the difficulty with the risk of selective enforcement, and it’s a political minefield.
I’m a big fan of simplicity, but you can still have simplicity with a decent charge rate and a CCS connector.
The original comment dealt with the fact that in the video the cars were hitting something behind the bush you couldn’t see. Then he took a few seconds to find the Streetview and post it. Everyone starring the comment is wondering why the heck the author of the post couldn’t have done that.
A bigger concern is whether or not your electric service level can handle an additional 50-60A draw.
Yup, there just aren’t very many ID.4s in North America yet. Like Montreal, Vancouver is an EV wonderland, and I’ve yet to see an ID.4. Teslas, Kona EVs, Leafs, Bolts, Taycans are everywhere.
Considering that the majority of the man-made CO2 in the atmosphere was put there by rich, industrialized Western countries... Certainly we shouldn’t be expected to shoulder the entire burden of CO2 reduction, but we sure as hell should show some leadership.
Forget skill. I don’t care if it’s Lewis Hamilton, nobody should be doing even half that speed in a residential neighborhood. We are far too accepting of terrible driver behavior, period.
Given that nobody ever gets the book thrown at them unless they’re drunk or high, how about we not wait for that to happen?
$1.40 x 3.78 l/gal = $5.30. Perhaps you’re converting to imperial gallons?
If you do more than ride to the local Starbucks, then all you hear at speed is the wind noise anyway. Who cares what your bike sounds like anymore.
No reason it shouldn’t be. 800V = smaller conductors = easier to fit on a bike. And a charge at 350kW could make electric motorcycles feasible for track days and rides longer than a commute.
Since I have zero interest in any kind of self-driving capability in a vehicle that I personally own, I’m quite happy if that capability is not baked into the price of the vehicle.
Right? Why not finish paying the thing off and enjoy not having a car payment for a few years? No wonder everyone is so broke.*
Certainly correct when it has to do with cyclist or pedestrians injured or killed by drivers. One more sign that we don’t take driving seriously.
I mean if you were really interested you could Google it for yourself.
We don’t actually know this for sure. There is true coal-rolling, where you intentionally sabotage your emission controls in order to blow huge clouds of sooty exhaust, but there is also “sort of coal-rolling” where you hammer the exhaust on an older diesel and it blows a bit of black exhaust due to the over-rich mix…
This is the appropriate punishment for coal-rollers.
Hmm, you just gave me an idea.
If I carried while I rode I’d be in jail. I’m kinda glad it isn’t legal here in Canada.
