I don't even think its about dates, I just think Harry Potter never really left Pop Culture enough for nostalgia to even be a factor.

I was a little old but I do see the appeal of the first few books but I have always thought that if you replaced all the silly names with like Smith and Johnson no one would care about them. But you could probably say that about a lot of things.

Great example! So now on my list of things that are tired cliches we have:
1)News story about scientists naming something after someone famous
2)That asinine response to anyone bagging on something you like that they must be bored if they're criticizing something

This is nothing against the Avclub but has anyone anywhere ever been interested in a news story about scientists naming something after someone famous?

His expression when he's called to give the closing statement where he snaps himself into focus is one of my favorite shots in recent television.

They did an entire episode where they actually were The Honeymooners.

Really?

In law school it was explained to us that because the athletes and refs voluntarily insert themselves in the game, the expectation that they’re going to get hit would exclude any charges of battery or assault and also any lawsuits.

King of Queens was notably very heavily inspired by the Honeymooners if your looking for what a modern version would look like.

Good lord does Dexter stand out like a sore thumb in your list but thats another discussion. I like all those shows but if you condensed their best scenes and story lines and put them into theaters they’d all be considered mediocre to average films. Actually, most of them are derivative of actual better film and would

And Ive always dug Paula Poundstone and actually alot of the guests, but the house joke style on that show is annoyingly dated and awkward

Kinda wish the article had made this point clearer.

She does deserve equal pay if she was a movie star who took a main role in a television show. What does screen time have to do with anything? Even in films, there are small roles played by bigger stars that get paid more then the main characters.

Television blows, movies rule. Macy should be paid dozens of times more then anybody else on Showtime for even deigning to be on one of their crappy shows. And that goes the same for any female movie star who lowers herself to use her skills in one of these painfully unfunny and uninteresting “Dramedys”. Hey people,

I live in and am from Miami but I went to law school in Orlando. Even though I live in one the nightlife capitals of the world, I still miss downtown Orlando. Its just so fun and easy to get shitfaced in an around the dozens and dozens of interchangeable bars and clubs down Orange Ave.

The Motel 6 guy?

As i said above I hate this show so I don't really know if fans would care more about Macy or Rossum leaving the show, but I always thought this was anti tv star and pro movie rather then anti women.

Weeds could have been Curb Your Enthusiasm except about a milf weed dealer and it would have been my favorite show of all time.

Shameless might be popular, but again, unless I’m mistaken, Emily herself has very little presence outside the shows in those other avenues you’ve mentioned. I don’t think those kids would know Macy by name either but the man’s face has been in a ton of blockbuster movies and has a pretty distinct voice and manner, I

Yes! There's this "Showtimeness" inherent in most of their shows that always bothered me. Especially their "edgy" comedies like Weeds and Californication, but especially Shameless. Just a bunch of ripped from the headlines social references. Its probably telling that so many of their shows go through huge story and
