To be fair to those complaining, change and innovation are hardly the same thing. The Syndicate will hardly be the first reboot/remake of an older game into an FPS. It could, of course, still be innovative, but the FPS is a pretty well explored genre.

I never played the original, but I certainly can sympathize with some of feeling of, "ugh, another reboot as an FPS." I love FPS plenty but I could certainly go for someone trying to do something new and original in a different genre.

I think you've conflated two approaches. As I said in my end-point, I despise people who sit back and shoot at shadows from the spawn point. Aggression and offense are deeply important to skilled tank use. That said, just charging into a village filled with skilled enemy engies is almost as wasteful.

In a real fight you can't effectively combat repair yourself anyway; you need an engie squadmate to back you up. This just fills in for the times when you can't find one (because all of your squadmates are recon :P ).

Being a tank-bastard is about all I can do well in BF these days so making long-term tanking more viable for a non-engineer is greatly appreciated.
