I think his acting just seemed really suited to that awkward neo-neorealism in Somersault.  I'm not sure if I've seen him in anything else.

Oh god, he was the guy in Somersault?  I love that movie.

@davidkordahl:disqus That's a fair assessment.  I think Lin's writing- and his point of view- will improve with time, but the novel just found me in the state of mind where I'm receptive to its notions and forgiving of some selfishness because so much of my life is about forgiving selfishness in loved ones already.

@avclub-5e550d516b252b5d3e9a239590372fed:disqus It was more of a "cover my ass" move, as someone last week told me I was a bad person for being an Asian who doesn't want to date a white person who doesn't believe in white privilege.

When you found out they have the movies.

Lana Kane is like sexual Kryptonite to all individuals, without regard to race, creed, or orientation.

If it organically comes up three times in one week, Michael Bay fast-tracks production on the remake.

I think if Cameron did have an interesting (read: less consistently recycled story), I'd definitely be interested in seeing it, but if it's just more of the same of the first film, I've got zero interest in it.

@avclub-a93a879594c13c12a83fd45ab289a022:disqus He was pretty great on American Horror Story, though I couldn't get behind the fangirls on Tumblr who kept wanting him to be with Violet.

I saw Aisha Tyler a few weeks ago, and she said she sometimes gets tired of people saying, "Yyyyyyup," or shouting, "Lana!" at her.

It is essential, isn't it?  I don't hate people who have different political opinions- unless they're assholes about it- but I think in terms of relationships or sex, I like to be on the same page with people.

@avclub-323e0a0db2518ba07c905b4bd5ce5642:disqus It's a good excuse to give if you ever meet a potential partner who is really into having babies.  Listening to Mountain Goats' album about decaying marriage is also making me want children even less.

I really hope The Strain is better than the books.  Those were so poorly-written- probably because it was originally a screenplay- and the characters were pretty one-dimensional.  Still, I liked Del Toro's vision of vampires and how it's the polar opposite of "hot" bloodsuckers on The Vampire Diaries and Twilight.

Holland Roden from Teen Wolf is really hot, but I heard she's a big Ayn Rand stan, and I can barely tolerate coworkers who love her.  If I ever were to have hypothetical sex with Ms. Roden, I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as if I didn't know she liked Paul Ryan's favorite author.

I saw it years ago on Trio and really enjoyed it.

Oh, there are lots of reasons I don't want kids, but I'd really hate to raise a child in a situation of animosity between parents.

@putacorkinit:disqus Actually it's an Archer joke, which I'm fairly certain is what @avclub-cf50b28ef624912ff106c57ca9be41dc:disqus was referencing.  But yes, both rape culture and racism are horrible.

Oy, magic in Phillipa Gregory novels often feels super shoehorned in.  Perhaps it's best I didn't read The White Queen.

We could make a thread for it in the comments section each week.

Yeah, I don't really expect much from it, but I'm curious.
