I guess there’s some of that at play but this also is, to my eyes, a genuinely mixed bag of a movie. You can like something without thinking it’s flawless, and find something a little lacking without finding it loathsome. There’s going to be a lot of “YOU just like this because it’s a minority woman director!!”/ “Well

Roseanne was very much for worker’s rights, was socially liberal, etc. all throughout the original show.

They were poor, they weren’t stupid.

Q: Will the new Roseanne feature an episode in which Darlene decides to make up a story accusing her parents of being incestuous predators? Asking for some friends.

The original was a groundbreaking super well written comedy with a stellar cast (Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman especially) based on Roseanne’s distinct and hilarious comedic voice. Like many shows it went on too long, but that doesn’t take away from how good it was at its peak.

I totally agree. Yes, him ending up in jail is exactly how that would have played out in real life. If the cops hadn’t just killed him right there.

Katharine Hepburn’s performance in this is the rock on which Kristen Wiig built her career. The part where Hepburn loses a shoe and keeps bouncing up and down and refusing to take the situation seriously (“I grew up on a hill!”) feels like the genesis of so many Wiig SNL characters. I really hope Wiig gets afforded a

There are better impersonators for the president, absolutely.

That’s the thing. Precise, nuanced. Trump would absolutly see it as glowing tribute.

Sorry, but we have to go with the one that angers Trump the most - which is obviously Baldwin.

You know, I’m starting to think that Donald Trump might be just a little bit thin skinned.

I was totally set to hate Morgan from the moment she came back this episode and instantly started stirring the pot. But her reconciliation was sweeter than expected and her look of total shock at Ben bringing her back kinda warmed by dead heart. So a part of me is happy that Morgan is having a chance to redeem herself

Giles (about Willow): “Truly she was the best of us all.”

No it was Anya. (Edited thanks)

Oh man. Ignoring my first instinct to not pit powerful women against each other, I don’t think it’s fair to say that Wonder Women wouldn’t have a chance. Even if you go by the movie alone, we watch Diana train with the best when it comes to fighting. Her mother’s fear of Diana realizing who she truly is spurs her aunt

I’m a lifelong Star Trek fan. I was pretending to Captain Kirk when I was 3 years old, and I don’t care about visual continuity. I care about good story-telling. I feel like the fandom have the depth and spirit of a corporate accounting department. If you’re watching to count consistency, you’re not paying attention

Having the 1701 show up, and ending with the original theme song, was cheesy as hell. There’s no denying that.

The reviewer’s problems with the show can basically be summed up to him apparently thinking that the show should just be new episodes of TOS and TNG instead of its own thing.

You seriously expect a modern scifi show to use the same visual style as the fucking groovy 60s? Good lord.

Yup, Discovery hasn’t taken the narrative forward at all. It’s not like Discovery got rid of TOS’s idea that women can’t be captains or the general misogyny of that show.
