I think it would be a fun exercise, if it were possible, to have the people making over-the-top criticisms of this season re-watch season 1 from the same lens. It feels to me that a lot of the critiques of S4 would apply to S1, but they were viewed from a different POV.

I mean, making fun of Matt Damon got us “I’m fucking Matt Damon” which might not have been Kimmel’s work, but he at least gets partial credit.

I’m not even sure the first one was a movie that demanded a movie.

It’s antisemitism to call the murder of more than 28,000 people and forced relocation of millions in a matter of months genocide? I’ve been to Israel and greatly enjoyed it. I grew up in a Jewish community and have endless love for Jews. That’s why I find a genocidal apartheid state’s insistence on conflating support

And yet still no story on AV Club about John Oliver offering one million dollars a year (and a state-of-the-art tour bus) to Clarence Thomas if he’ll just “get the fuck off the Supreme Court now”.

And this is exactly why I prefer John Oliver now. Not saying he doesn’t address criticism in a funny way as well, but Stewart’s self deprecating shtick has already worn thin and I’m already tired of his segments consisting of “someone says one sentence in a two second clip and then Stewart makes fun of that”. It

In his defence, I massively enjoyed the movie right up until just before the lack of an end, then left the cinema with a scowl on my face, swearing under my breath like Muttley.

“Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron only took home to prizes,”

In what way does “the finger of blame point solely at Gutierrez-Reed?” As the article discusses, Dave Halls already pleaded guilty for his role in the shooting. Baldwin is charged. So that’s at least three people who the “finger of blame” has pointed to.

Some Cybertruck owners say their fellow Cybertruckers are blowing things out of proportion, and one said it’s a good idea to not “...drive it in the rain, or get it wet.

I loved Alan Wake 2, it was an easy pick of game of the year for me. But the pathing is garbage.

I mean, a lot of that has to do with you being an in a world where the rules of reality and time are constantly shifting, so when you revise the environment you have to get your bearings and find out where the game wants

to be fair, it’s only because she’s a no-talent hack and all the haters are flawless professional singers.

As a father of two, had either of my sons been upset by this, it would have been a matter of, “Elmo and the man were just pretending.” That’s all. That would have worked at virtually any age. And it’s not like I’m some genius parent.

I’ve always disliked Wheaton so this is validating to me! Larry put the puppet in a wrestling hold for two seconds and pantomined clotheslining it. That’s it. Elmo appeared unhurt afterwards (since he’s, you know, a puppet.) Wheaton writing like Elmo is a real four year old child is unhinged.

I mean I guess some kids might have been upset but I think most kids are smart enough to understand that Elmo is in fact fake, and even if they aren’t their parents (or guardians, whoever) can say it was a joke and brush it off. This is not some sort of traumatic event. Or say they were playing and that’s not the kind

Finally a cult I can say I’m a part of! :D

That’s what happens when you drop a series all at once.  The conversation ends the moment it premieres and only starts up again in advance of the new season.

My dude, how do you define a sex scene as gratuitous? If the fight scene and the choreography don’t serve the plot, then they’re probably going to fall in that category. The problem is, we think of the fighting as somehow more intrinsic to storytelling than sex.

Not that I’m totally disagreeing with Cavill here - there is such a thing as a gratuitous sex scene - but I dislike this idea that every element of a movie has to “serve the plot”. The plot is one part of a movie (or any story); a necessary one, but also a largely mechanical one. Stories are so much more than just the

I mean, you’re not wrong about any of these. But “both of them have cases set years apart”? “Light versus dark”? Really? I know you needed to pad out the list a bit, but that's really stretching.
