[The Force Awakens] was very much a re-do of episode 4, everyone complained.

Everything is adjusted after the fact, that’s not the same thing.

But the colour is such a joy in Fury Road. I cannot imagine ever wanting to watch without it.

It’s bizarre to me how excited some people get about “black-and-whitising” colour movies. I bet most of those same people would call it sacrilege to colourise a black-and-white movie, but I fail to see the distinction that makes one change more acceptable than the other.

Each individual scene in TRoS was pretty good. It’s just that those scenes did not add up to a good movie.

The prequels also introduce and spend an inordinate amount of time on political machinations though, which could’ve been fascinating, but actually plays out in incredibly dull ways and is usually either poorly explained or makes very little sense (so she’s a child queen, but it later turns out that she’s not part of

This wouldn’t prompt concern if not for the ever growing list of announced but explicitly cancelled, quietly abandoned to development hell, or otherwise (as yet) unproduced projects that inspires so little faith in any Star Wars movie actually happening.

It’s more than a sequel, it’s the second half of a two-part movie.

Alienoid: Return to the Future might be my most anticipated movie of the year. The first part was delightfully bonkers in the best way.

I don’t love Dial of Destiny (although it’s grown on me a little since I first heard it), mainly because “dial” is very bland in both sound and meaning. I think “Clock” would’ve been a punchier choice, despite giving up the alliteration, but that might be too suggestive of plot twists which they didn’t necessarily

Ah, okay then. I do think Bosworth was miscast, but then it’s been so long since I saw the movie that it might be unfair on her performance.

[The actors] were way too young to be the same characters from the original two films

Wait, someone writing these jokes is saying Jack Black can’t sing?

I’m assuming it was supposed to be a joke, but it doesn’t work because it’s not structured like a joke.

I think the idea that it’s an homage is too often used to excuse Lucas’ choices. Sure, old movie serials had titles like that, but they weren’t all equally good titles. It’s not just about following a pattern of “The Adjective Noun” or “Verb of the Noun” or whatever, it’s also about choosing words that sound good in

Yeah, people not liking The Phantom Menace as a title was definitely a thing at the time.

After the runaway (fly away?) success of 2022's Top Gun: Maverick

Yeah, because that was her job, although I wouldn’t suggest that running a multi-million dollar production is the work of a “glorified secretary”.

So you think the difference between Rogue One being a good movie and Rogue One being a bad movie is whether or not Jyn and Cassian walk away at the end? That’s nonsense. I’ll give you that killing them off was probably the right choice, but making one better choice does not necessarily mean that the overall film is

Good god, the fact that Spielberg kept working with her should be a mark in her FAVOR not a negative.
