@laserfox: I don't think there is a restriction that prevents you from installing the OS on a system with less than the minimum recommended RAM. I just think that it won't run very well.

FINALLY! Aside from manga (which I really hope more mainstream titles will show up in the Kindle store soon), I read everything on my Kindle now. I love the heck out of that device and do not regret my decision to buy it. It was one of the few devices I had absolutely no buyers remorse.
