I had no idea AT ALL that that guy was supposed to be Elrond

The Hound was often pretty amusing in his own way, as was Tyrion.

No mention of Ser Bronn of the fuckin’ Blackwater?

I *do* think Hightower wanted Alicent to fuck the king - I just don’t think she had it in her to try and do so (which, in the long run, was the right move even if she didn’t intend it as such).

There’s been no evidence shown they had a sexual relationship.

There’s a palpable tension between Viserys and Alicent, who has probably been sleeping with the king in the six months since the queen died and who, I cannot emphasize enough, is 15 years old.

It doesn’t come up because only Targaryens can be heirs and the other Targaryens would never agree to give up their potential claims to the throne to a half-Targaryen heir.

Aegon saw absolute darkness riding in those winds and what was in it would destroy the world of the living. When this great winter comes, all of Westeros must stand against it. And if the world of men is to survive a Targaryen must be seated on the Iron Throne.’

Dany rode in from the north on her dragon and her quest

It was very explicit in the dialog. The maester straight-up says they are both going to die soon, all their efforts to turn around the baby have failed, but that there’s a procedure know to maesters that might save the baby.

I’m not sure how Jenna missed that. Aside from just the reality of a breech birth in medieval times, it’s especially strange given that Jenna mentions that Viserys seems to genuinely love Aemma, which is clearly true. Every scene with Aemma and Viserys enforces that and Viserys initially cares more about saving Aemma

This has been the hot take in a lot of the recaps that I’ve read and, that’s just not the scene I watched. Although it wasn’t completely explicit in the dialogue, the fact that Aemma went from screaming in agony to lying prone and barely conscious implied that she was dying. I thought it was clear that the choice was

What were you watching? The Viserys had a choice to lose them both or just his wife, he didn’t have to choose one or the other, he made a choice almost anyone would make (as painful as it is).

It’s been awhile since I saw Season One, but I thought that the whole “Baratheon black hair” thing was just the dominant genetic trait: Baratheon kids always have black hair and so Robert‘s blonde haired kids can’t actually be his offspring...not that black hair is “superior”.

(And weren’t most Targaryens born of incest

Game of Thrones is the most watched show ever. It’s not inflation or whatever, it’s simply the most popular show in existence.

I think it’s less (at least for me) that I’m bothered by her going full mad queen then the fact that it was done so abruptly. I agree she always had the makings of the next mad queen but at the time in the show she wasn’t even close to there yet. It needed AT LEAST another 2 seasons of her rule to let the slow descent

I think there’s a lot to like here. The original series burned a lot of its goodwill with the final season, but this felt like a return to form of the earlier dialogue-driven years. George Martin’s involvement makes an obvious difference.

It was in character and an honorable thing to do. However, whether or not it was the smart thing to do is debatable.

To be fair, Vegeta being uninterested in any of this until he heard Goku took up dance as part of his training would be true to both of their character.

I LOVE how much that blue one is a dick!  It’s the BEST!
