The Acadia isn’t really an SUV though. My brother-in-law has one and they’re alright. The Terrain is really nice (my wife had a ‘12), but you wouldn’t be able to fit anything else in the backseat with 2 car seats. Pretty good cargo space though.

I imagine if you’re retired/semi-retired, you’re probably not looking at depreciation. You’re probably buying a fifth-wheel and a truck and maintaining those for the 15 or so years your body will allow you to travel cross-country with a camper.
