I have to sometimes stop and wonder and how unbelievably fucked up politics is when I see politicians literally accusing one another of... politics.

Yes, curiously Trump is “not racist” in the same way that Fox News is...

They have the majority, discussion is just a formality now.

It’s probably a fight that needs to happen and this time it needs to be properly argued on First Amendment grounds. Fetal personhood is an illegal state establishment of religion. There is no scientific argument for it and no consensus in society that it is true. It relies entirely on the religious concept of

This reminds me of the good old days when you could actually lose an entire election for verbal slip ups like this... or you know, just awkwardly yelling.

Is this Northeastern for “y’all”?

You can’t be the aggressor and also the victim, snowflakes.

“the president, when he does come, that he has something strong in his message that will resonate with some of these people who might have these crazy ideologies and hopefully change their opinion.”

Waaaait a minute! Are you telling me it’s okay to criticize one’s own party’s leaders when they do something wrong!?

It’s not about changing the minds of conservative politicians or voters. It’s about energizing progressive voters. Like you said, the right-wing nut jobs love this. They’ll come out to vote. It’s progressive voters who are discouraged and that can lead to even less voting, which leads to even less of a chance to stop

That view is very common in moderate white America. We’re brought up this way, believing America is about all those high-minded principles and that’s its people are fundamentally good. That evidence to the contrary is an exception to this rule. They’re just Bad apples.”

which isn’t a world most of us want to live in

It’s funny because you smug centrist scolds

America’s reasonable instinct to protect infants

This sort of shit just reinforces my growing hatred of all people. We are just such complete fucking morons, as a species. That this sort of thing makes any number of peoples’ heads go up and down in agreement makes me not want to even belong to the same gene pool.

They’re going to do what they’re going to do. Point is that doesn’t mean you throw up your hands and stop passing legislation if you can. If they want to force a constitutional crisis, they will do so. But even they can’t be sure they can maintain power if they go down that road. It could go very badly for them.

Not meaningless. Roe v. Wade is a court decision. They can overturn it simply by saying it was incorrectly ruled. To overturn a law passed by Congress using Judicial Review, they have to find, in the Constitution, that the federal government does not have the right to do what the law says.

Whatever the reality was, the likely reality now is a real shortage due to hoarding. If we could run store shelves dry of toilet paper in the pandemic when there was literally no problem in the supply chain, we can definitely do it with formula when there actually IS an event like the Abbott recall.

And the difference between moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats is that the Republican party will turn on their own if they break on key issues.

Republicans don’t pass every piece of legislation with just 50 Senators either. Stop pretending this is something that only Democrats can’t do. Neither party gets 100% of their party to vote with them 100% of the time.
