Don’t you know that you’re not allowed to come to your own conclusions? You’re only allowed to take the information they give you, and have the same opinion. Thinking for yourself means you’re dismissing them.

It’s the ownership of the photos that is a problem for most photographers. I think most reasonable people would understand that the photos can be used to market the home itself however they need to. But, let’s say Coldwell Banker wants to use a shot I took of one of their listings as part of a national advertising…
I work with a real estate photography company, and we’re constantly trying to figure out who the lesser of two evils are: Zillow, or local MLSes, mainly regarding photo copyright. We already know the bullshit Zillow is trying to pull with demanding it be turned over to them. Do you know if your MLS is looking for the…
Because having a women-only division is a protected group in order to let people compete against others with similar abilities, just like the Special Olympics.
Nobody is saying she can’t race. She can race against men all day long, if she wants. She just can’t race in a division that is specifically limited in order to encourage women to participate in sports. By your argument, it would be discriminatory to keep her from dominating at the Special Olympics as well.
Everybody has trauma. It’s time for you to grow up and put it in the past, instead of lashing out at internet strangers. For your own sake.
Then track down the families that actually received that wealth. Not take it from everybody. While keeping in mind you’re trying to collect money for something that happened to someone else.
I think they’ve done a bad job publicizing it. The only reason I know about it is because there was a report on the radio about how few people have taken advantage of it. But I haven’t paid much attention to it otherwise, just because I figure I’m probably not eligible for it.
That’s really good info, thanks. And it doesn’t surprise me in the least that the DOE would pick the exact wrong number of trips to cover for the kids. More than necessary to go to school and come home, but not enough to cover a trip to an off-site gym. Geez
I think the coverage of this Inside Edition report would be FAR different if those were the people exposed as fare beaters. I hope they do a followup busting those UWSers in the act.
While apparently it’s been a messy rollout, the city does have a Fair Fares program, which should help low income people with discounted metrocards. https://www1.nyc.gov/office-of-the-mayor/fair-fares-nyc.page
I don’t know anything about this. I need to look it up! Thanks!
100% with you on all of these things! And sometimes the bitter NYer part of me hopes these things don’t get fixed, so people move out, and I can get a seat on the train again, lol
While much of the coverage has been about lack of information and the slow rollout, there IS a program for reduced fare metrocards for low-income people. When there’s more data, it will be very informative to see if it has an effect on fare beating statistics. As for people who just WON’T pay, I don’t have much…
I certainly wish they were there as well, and I use them to refill my card as often as I can. Maybe if the fare beating was stopped, they could afford to have more station agents, or at least more maintenance people to keep the machines working?
I don’t work for the MTA, and I certainly am not arguing that they’re a model of efficiency. But there’s nothing saying they can’t become more efficient AND prevent people from stealing a valuable service.
I agree. My argument is just that even though it may not be the root cause, that $215 mil would certainly be a help!
Fare beating may not be the root cause, but to act like getting that extra $215 million per year wouldn’t make a big dent in fixing those problems is a bizarre take.
You would if you were going to lose your job over it, though.
That part about ‘economic security for those unwilling to work’, even if it gets taken out later, will kill this bill. Conservatives will have a field day tearing it apart. And while most on the left would support more security for people unable to work, only the most hardcore would support assistance for people who…
