Diesel F1! Where are you, Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich?
Diesel F1! Where are you, Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich?
If only had Ferrari done the same thing a bit earlier....whenever I think of the early 80s F1, this is what I think of:
.
Building and operating additional type of aircraft would be a serious no-go. Either build new A-10s (which still do have a role in the total war) or apply the following solution to end all problems:
Not really comparable. That Rolls Royce things has turbojets and was meant to take much heavier loads (several tons total) into the air and test the stability control system for VTOL aircraft. That “hoverboard” thing can only take a person in the air for a very short time.
Seriously!? You’ve called my comment a lie and then listed all the reasons for which it is correct. Damn! How else would you call an aircraft that needs new engines, electronics, wings (on those that didn’t receive the new ones) but the end of a service life.
Seriously!? If they are not reaching the end of their service life, why do they need SLEP?
It is fast for a COIN aircraft. Nobody had compared it to the supersonic aircraft. And no, 707 would not do that at sea level
Since ever. There is a big difference between the max speed, cruise speed and the never exceed speed, especially in the aircraft like Su-25 and A-10.
In a total war, some losses have to be acceptable. Sometimes, CSAR cannot be launched simply because the are is too hot.
Is it watchable?
Yeah, I remember that one. That guy was a massive idiot.
This is a different one, made by Rolls Royce as a testbed for VTOL aircraft, a decade before the NASA’s example:
Finally! More specifically, it is Douglas/On Mark Engineering A-26K Counter Invader, a mighty badass and one of my all-time favourites:
Well, when working to find solution to a certain problem, different design teams are going to come up with similar results. Another example would be the similarity of the early, swept wing fighters, or the first generation Mach 2 fighters (F-8, Mig-21, Lightning), or the Eurocanards and IAI Lavi.
It is actually a testbed for the Harrier’s reaction control system.
Mark Webber certainly did; he was the most outspoken driver out there. Kimi, Schumacher and Vettel also have. And pretty much 50% of the drivers until the late 2000s spoke their mind.
SU-25 is armoured (protected against splinters), and has a cockpit titanium armour, just like A-10. And it’s not just the skin, there is a whole fuselage with armoured fuel tanks between them (just as with the A-10).
What movie is that? Also, I don’t know what do you mean by that so here is a random gif:
You have simply continued my point - in a full scale war, CAS assets can only function if there is proper CAP and SEAD.
