I've been reading your responses to people throughout this article's comments, and I think you'd have a lot more luck getting people to see your point if you'd explain that the headline is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. It may have been obvious to you, but (embarrassingly) it took me a moment to get it.

Like PlatinumGraves, I wish I agreed with you, but I don't. The article itself is... actually kind of interesting, educational. But it doesn't present an opinion, in either direction. The headline, however, is blatantly sexist and opinionated. Granted, I've seen Jezebel writers use outrageous headlines to, I assume,

God, THANK YOU, I thought I was the only one who would call Jez out on this bullshit! Granted, the article wasn't nearly as bad as I'd expected (from basically the most sexist anti-male headline I have ever seen), and the history of "women and children first" was educational. But still! What the fuck does gender have

I can't imagine the bullying will stop. If anything, I imagine it'll be more vile, seeing as those kids have just been outed as complete assholes on TV while Nadia gets lots of positive attention. The only difference is, they'll have to dig deeper than a simple "your ears look funny."

"New York's 40 hospitals will give up "swag bags" featuring formula logos (which include branded mugs and bottles)... "

OH, I just realized that you said you have trouble with it... so just saying "talk about sex!" is probably not terribly helpful to you!

Talking talking talking talking... it's really helpful to be an example to others that talking about sex is okay! (And super fun, especially if you're talking with someone you have a thing for.) Obviously there's a time & place for it, but... these days I spend a lot of time talking about sex (if even a bit coyly) to

I think this is excellent, and important. As Shane put it, I think the problem often stems from a lack of clarity, especially with young people. Many of these guys' stories boil down to "I didn't know what I was doing was hurtful."

Oh god, I can't even imagine.

I don't know what the context of Tosh's jokes were, so I'm open to the possibility that the point of his routine was actually "rape jokes aren't funny," and that this woman was out of line. Totally plausible.

Thank you! God, that was a horribly-written article. Is this the only record of the woman's story? It's so vague it's almost useless!

In the past few years, if I've done a few hours of yardwork or taken a long hike, I've had to change undies midday. Not because I find the actual odor repulsive, but the intensity of the odor is.

Tsk, that's some wrong-ass (manipulative?) reporting. So, was this a ($50) deduction on income earned by the horse, or was the Jezebel article correct in stating that it was a "tax credit," which makes less sense to me?

Okay, the small business part makes sense for expense write-offs (same thing as "tax credit", I guess?), and national representation in the Olympics makes sense. I was hoping it was both of those, and not just a "people with expensive things get a discount." Thank you!

I think the "just jealous" rule would be more helpful if it were changed to "just intimidated by you" or "feels threatened by you." In nearly all cases, I believe this is true, both of women and of men.

How. The fuck. Does a horse. Earn you. A tax credit.

Oh I realize the word "Reddit" generally means "special home for sexist trolls," but not ALL of them are sexist. Hell, I only know of the site because occasionally my feministy male friends link to such appalling Reddit pages so they can bitch about how it gives the rest of Reddit a bad name.

I'm surprised that men overwhelm the population of DeviantArt, if even by less than 10%!

Hah, I'm guessing I'll see you at Heroes Con then, yes? (If so, Charlotte seems to be pretty okay. Walked around some of the more skeezy areas late one night last year w/ a black friend, and nobody raised an eyebrow at us.)

Oh I soooooo agree! I had a New Year's resolution one year to only purchase my meats from local farmers, and I've stuck to it (when I'm not traveling) to this day. Forced me to learn how to cook a whole lot more veggies & rice, though, since I'd occasionally have visitors over for dinner & would be stuck with no meat
