You’d be hard pressed doing more than your deadlift 1 rep max, as you still have to lift up the weight in much the same way as a deadlift. Although, given that it’s only a single lift and then a hold, it’s not unreasonable that you’d do a farmers carry with as much weight, if not more, than you’d do a set of 5

This also depends on what type of weight you’re using. Your grip is much more likely to fail if you’re using a dumbell where the weight can “roll” out of your grip. If you’re using a kettlebell or a dedicated farmers carry rig, then you’ll be able to hold the grip for a lot longer.

Why not just use a small pot with a lid? You really don’t need a dedicated rice cooker, especially if you’re only cooking a small amount of rice.

Also, depending on if you want any flavour additions (eg. ground turmeric, cloves, citrus peel, saffron strands, etc) add them in just before the water. They should float to the top when you leave the rice, and can be picked out when you uncover.

I don’t know about EvenBaggierTrousers5, but my go-to technique for white rice is:
1. Add rice to pot (1/3-1/2 cups per serve).
2. Add a little splash of vegetable/peanut oil and a pinch of salt, heat and stir for a couple of minutes.
3. Add boiling water (ratio 3:2 to the rice - eg. 1.5 cups of water to 1 cup rice). Be

I’m always short of space in my small freezer, so I normally take a small, thin bottle and half fill it with water. Then I store it in the freezer upside down. If the water has melted it’ll fall to the bottom (now the top) of the bottle.

The biggest one for me is setting up filtering rules. In my personal gmail, all my newsletters are set to skip the inbox and go into a seperate folder, this means that I don’t get excess email notifications on my phone.

What about the confit duck you were thinking about last week.

The best meaty thing that I’ve sous-vided was 24hr pork ribs (finished with a glaze and then a quick blast in the oven). I’d definitely recommend it.

“I’m not interested in this. And you’re all wrong for being interested in this.”

If you’re regularly sous-vide-ing, then definitely get a vac-sealer. I got mine for sous-vide, but I can’t believe how often I use it for other stuff, too. My freezer is now full of various curries, pasta sauces, dahls, stews, that fit a lot better in vac-bags, rather than the usual tupperware technique. And in my

If you’re looking for a calendar app with great widget flexibility on android that’ll sync with multiple google calendars, I’d definitely recommend Jorte. It’s a bit like Tasker in that it can be tough to get your head around the options at the start, but it’s very powerful once you work it all out.

I can vouch for this type of attack. A colleague of mine lost $60,000 from his bank account (got it back in the end), after someone called the phone company pretending to be him, and had all calls/sms’s diverted to a new number.

Only a little bit. It’s only slightly harder to clean than a press or microplane.

I’ve always been a proponent for the hand mince (unless I was doing a heap of garlic, in which case this was my friend). If I’ve already got the microplane out (normally for ginger), then I’ll do that. Otherwise, it’s just as quick to do a simple hand mince.

As much as I love Duolingo, I don’t like the fact that it’s so pedantic about grammar. I’ve been using it to improve my high school german, and having real problems passing the levels that get very focussed on the appropriate pluperfect attributive adjectival endings for the variously gendered words.

Another thing to think about is growing stuff that is expensive to buy when you might only need a small amount. Chillies are a great example here, but I also love my little pot of lemongrass. To a lesser extent, herbs also fall into this category (eg. Basil, Coriander (Cilantro), Rosemary, Sage, Parsley, and Chives).

Wanted to second bands as a good way to develop good pull-up form.

Definitely surprisingly powerful. Last year I put not too much effort into this system and was able to memorise the order of a deck of cards without too much trouble.
