My issue with Duolingo was that it got too focussed on grammar as you moved to higher levels.  I was learning German, and was failing a lot of levels due to issues remembering the various genders of nouns and how they changed through the various tenses.  I was only really interested in conversational language, but

I always assumed that this was a reference to sending a message with a read receipt on (eg. iMessage or WhatsApp). Being “left on read” means that I’ve sent you a message, that I can see you’ve seen (my app tells me the message was “read”), but you haven’t replied to the message.

You’ve “left me on read”, meaning that

So you’re just going to put yourself up on a pedal stool, as if you never make any mistakes...

Definitely this.  I can’t count the number of times (in a corporate setting), I’ve been emailed a redacted pdf, that I could simply open in Preview and move the black bars away.

Seriously... Are we not doing “Phrasing” anymore?

A solid example of Betteridges Law of Headlines.

I live in Melbourne, Australia; where we’re known for our hipster brunch. You won’t get a mimosa, but you’ll get a single-origin espresso (probably served with a card detailing the provenance of the beans). You’ll be on Bruswick Street in Fitzroy, sitting on a salvaged metal stool in an industrial-chic warehouse

Definitely not debating the use of sweetness in general in culinary terms. Just the usage of literal confectionary. Surely you can see the difference between duck a l’orange and putting marshmallows on your roast vegetables.

The way I took it was that Flytrap was both questioning the benefit of Honey over Sugar, but also questioning jdfighter’s definition of “better for you” (which is a relatively ambiguous term - eg. lower calorie, more specific micronutrients, more natural, etc.).

Why is it in quotes? Flytrap is literally quoting jdfighter.

Do you guys realise that the rest of the world thinks that putting marshmallows on a savory dish is crazy?

Strongly disagree.  Even with good grip strength, your hands are never going to be as strong as your legs/back/core.  So if you’re deadlifting only to the limit of your double overhand grip, then you’re not going to be getting much training effect out of the lifts.  So chalk up, hook/mixed grip the bar, and lift

Nor Australia.

Battle ropes. Great for interval training. In addition to the cardio aspects of it, they mainly work arms, shoulders, and back; but depending on the style of movement, they can also give you a good core workout, too.

As mentioned above, a lifting belt is not designed to protect your back. It’s designed so that when you “brace” (ie. take in a big breath and tighten all your core muscles), it pushes against the belt, and makes your core really rigid.

Don’t run the razor more times than you have to.

Same with me. I recently got a new phone, and found out about the new Dropbox device limits when I went to put Dropbox onto it. It was a little annoying, but I’ve now transitioned myself (and the rest of my family) over to Google Drive.

Came here to say seperate sepperate separete separate.

“Phoenix” is another one like that.
