Vote: Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat

Why: So many to list...nice touch screen. Installs in 5 minutes if you have the 5 wires, and only requires minimal tweaks if you don’t have 5 wires (A C wire for power). Customizable colors for background, very intuitive schedular, “Auto” mode where the system will automatically

most people already instinctively understand it

Most important thing to realize when buying a home.

11) Always scope out the neighborhood of a house before buying, especially at night. Some neighborhoods look fine during the day but turn sketchy after dark. Better to find this out before plunking down the money.

Craftsman: we took my grandfather’s 50 year old broken wrench to Sears and they handed us a new one. No questions, no paperwork.

Crunchy taco shells are delicious

There is a very technical nerdy exception to this “rule”...

This qualifies as a “ya don’t say!?” post for anyone who follows jalopnik.. that said.
If you just swapped to LED blinkers, this will most likely happen b/c the LEDs have lower resistance. You need to wire in a large load resister in parallel to make the blinkers work at the correct rate again. They sell them at auto

When the blinker fluid is low there is usually some condensation at the top, once it gets to the 1/8 level it’s time to change it. We are still good as it looks like we have 4/5 left.

Vornado. Hands down. Any time a friend/roommate is about to buy a fan I loan them one of my vornados for a while (I know I sound crazy, but it’s such a damned good fan) and they’ve always wound up buying one. It moves air so well I’ve used my AC a lot less since getting them. Relatively quiet, great warranty, and just

I avoid the self-serve checkout machines when possible because they hate me.

As an IT/Tech guy (as in, that is my job) I get where you’re coming from, but it’s also worth mentioning that self-checkout systems are some of the worst systems ever designed, they’re all incredibly old, and shittily maintained. They are the most infuriating thing.
