I’d suggest you get a Raspberry Pi/Banana Pi (some form of Pi) and install XBMC on it. Great, inexpensive, low power and makes a decent HTPC. However since you were talking about old computers you have yeah, just get a video card with HDMI and it should give you audio out as well.

Makes sense. I just wish I could get a “Traffic Jam Ahead” audio warning in time to pick an option.

I don’t know what camp this is, but you definitely shouldn’t send kids there. Heck they just gave this little girl a weapon and they didn’t even teach her how to hold it properly. Seriously? The hand grip is there for a reason. Really should be wearing an arm guard too.

In deference to an earlier poster, I heartily recommend a cordless electric. One of my greatest joys in buying our house is once again bitching about having to mow a lawn. So when I went researching, and based on the size of our lot (~14,000 sq. ft.), it made the most sense. For starters, no gas, oil, or plugs to

Irfanview remains my favorite for "light" photo editing and batch resizing/watermarking.

I fail to understand how a $38 light bulb can be classified as smart.

I adjusted all the sliders until I found the perfect font! But then I realized I had just recreated comic sans... what am I doing with my life?

I have a better idea: GO TO A PROFESSIONAL OPTICIAN AND GET YOUR GLASSES PROPERLY ADJUSTED. Seriously, who puts up with glasses that don't fit? People who buy them at Walmart and expect the girl behind the counter to know how to fit eyewear.

Or you can just make this in 30 minutes for a lot less money.

And, unlike most of the other candidates, KeePass is free as in speech and as in beer!

VOTE: KeePass - I use in addition to LastPass. Keepass is my master password file while LastPass contains a subset for daily use. One of the features includes attaching files to the password entry... great for those QR codes for two-factor authentication.

Is there some kind of allergy to Rabbitt Ears? $8 and I get 55 stations. On occasion I have to tweak position but not that often.

Big fan in our house of the Dyson bagless DC33 ... it's rugged, cleans hard, adjustable for wood floors, has no bag and washable HEPA filters so you shouldn't ever have to invest in anything else for it, ever, and it seems like it'll last about 50 years.

I've got a 2012 that I got for a pittance. My mom's crosstour has a backup camera that's nice to have, but I live without it just fine. I tend to back into my spaces, because the chances that there's something I won't see in the parking space is much lower than the chance of not seeing something outside of the parking

You can still use your mirrors the same. Just lean left or right and you'll be able to see the same view you're used to. I've been doing it this way without a problem for years.

I had no trouble restoring all of my data recently from CrashPlan after a hard drive failure.

Clearly the people replying to you do not watch movies.

This is literally the same thing as running the fan on your A/C unit (if you have central A/C), except your A/C unit handles a lot more air and is built to have a filter attached to it.

No, don't. Fan motors rely on airflow over the motor to keep them running at normal temperatures. If you block or restrict that airflow via a furnace filter, the motor heats up and can trip the thermal cut off within the motor. Then you have a dead fan. You need a much beefier motor (through extra copper windings and
