It's Verizon's purchase of AWS spectrum years ago that mandated that users could use whatever device/application they choose. Verizon bought it knowing what they were getting into, and then promptly broke the rules. I don't think any other carrier bought that spectrum, therefore isn't subject to those rules.

This is a rule of the AWS spectrum that Verizon bought years ago. Google had a big hand in making sure that who ever bought the spectrum had to allow it to be open to whatever device the user wanted to use.

It advances to the next track. :-)

I'll use a Roku when they have Spotify. Until then... My Blu-Ray player does what I need.

Just hold down the volume up key on any Cyanogen-based ROM. ;-)

I just want to be able to play music from Spotify on my computer to an Airport Express. Is this possible on my first-gen 27" iMac?

Dear person filming this:

Patents exist to make sure that the original designer/inventor has a little bit of time to recoup the money he spent designing the gadget before others copy it. What Apple is using its patents for is decidedly NOT what a patent is for.

Next up, Ford will sue every car manufacturer in Europe for having vehicles with 4 wheels.

Interesting that he got what NASA stood for wrong...

I am always an early adopter. Had the Verizon Nexus day one. Problem is, the phone's 3G reception is laughable. I have 5 friends with the Verizon Nexus, all with horrible 3G reception (not 4G, 3G - for calls / texts). The first call I made on that phone, I dropped. It was downhill from there.

This is why I took my Galaxy Nexus back and got an unlocked GSM one. Even though the bootloader is unlocked, the thing just wreaked of Verizon with it's slow updates, non-Google apps added, and CDMA-AOSP issues.

Brilliant reply. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Agreed. You can't see people's comments. You can only see one, and everyone's reply to that one. There needs to be one level above that that shows everyone's comments... like a forum.

I like that your comment includes massively conservative tones, yet includes the word evolving.

Have you seen the new Spotify UI on Android? Amazing.

It's funny that Giz keeps saying the Galaxy S is getting this update. It's the Nexus, a completely different phone.

They're slowed way down. It explains this.

The One (all versions) should see an update to 4.1. I don't know many phone at all that don't get at least one update. And the One is HTC's flagship phone. It should get the update quickly if HTC wants to stay competitive.

So far what I'm seeing is replies to Joe here that are dismissed. When I hover over the user's icon, I can get the first few lines of what they said before being dismissed. I don't quite know why they were dismissed as they were just giving criticism about the new comment system, which is exactly what this blog post
