like 12 years or so? actually probably closer to 20...

Do I detect a hint of

you're never going to need 16GB of RAM. Ever. If you do, whatever you're using that much RAM for should probably be done on a desktop. Even 8GB of RAM is overkill for 95% of people

ah, wouldn't know, never seen it (or even heard of it lol)

this has happened a few times to mine over the last couple of months...has me sorta worried, but I also sorta want my MBP to die so I have an excuse to get a new (non-Apple) laptop

Well the thing is, I've moved much more to the mindset that it's a giant waste of money to own super expensive laptops. If I need to do serious computer (either data analysis / writing for my job, or gaming, or whatever), I want to do that on my desktop, plain and simple. And buying prebuilt desktops, to me, is just

Just lots of little things about the way the OS works and the way it is set up. I've used Windows since forever, and my homebuilt desktop is still a Windows machine, so I'm sure part of my disdain for the OS is that I just simply prefer the way Windows is set up (even down to simple things like the difference between

yeah that's my hope. And considering Apple only updates its line once a year I'm sure this discussion will be more interesting in a few months

This is kinda the dilemma I find myself in. I'm personally not a fan of OSX (made the mistake of buying a MBP two years ago, have hated the thing with a burning passion since pretty much day 1), but there just isn't anyone that is currently making a machine that does a good job all-around vs. the Air. It's the one

my apologies then. sometimes I forget that just because the writers here have giant hard-ons for everything Apple does / says doesn't mean all the readers do too ;)

the definition of "Personal Computer" disagrees with apple's disagreement...

Of course Apple is. Look at the fanboys salivating over these things as if they're God's gift to the tech world. As you said, why rock the gold-plated boat

APPLE'S MODUS OPERANDI!!!!!!

ironically, i think they made a big deal of this the last time they released processors with this feature...I'm almost certain that they did

I'm confused by your language...you're comparing the percentage of 4/3 to 2.2/2.3?

What is the point of comparing the MBPs to a bunch of ultraportables? Every one of those computers is at least 1lb (most are closer to 1.5lbs, or 33%) lighter than the MBPs and just generally smaller...

pretty sure any sandy bridge device (i.e. all the current MBPs) have this already...

Not really, not with the way Google has labelled things.

+1, made me laugh
