The concept of not being able to die here is very very similar to what happens to some (not all) people in Brandon Sanderson's Elantris (different premises though). I recommend it if people are interested, although I don't think it's his best book.

I'm getting the game, but debating the console. Obviously demon souls was ps3, but the problem is xbox has such better multiplayer environment. But this is not a pure multiplayer game in the normal sense....so i haven't decided.

There's an easy way to do maneater (well, an easier way). If you have a decent bow and a LOT of arrows, you can stay outside of his boss area (without going through the smoke stuff) and you can just shoot him until he drops. You can only kill one of the two that way, but then you won't have to deal with 2 of them.
